Help a Newbie?
Hey everyone,
I just recently got my 1999 Camaro SS Convertible and loving it. I have been doing a lot of things to it, personalization. So far...
Body Kit with Steel grill
K&N Air Intake
Flowmaster Muffler
B&M Shift Improver Kit
Couple Subwoofers and Amps
Full Tune-Up
Minor Cosmetic Details Inside
All in all my car is lookin pretty tight and i've already had 2 rice chasers and a fellow LS1 think (key word think) they could take me. I'm getting into this auto custimization thing but I dont have much more to do and unfortunatly I know little to nothing about the performance aspect. I really want learn about how to get those horses, burn those corvettes, and figure out what the hell my mechanic is saying. I would say NOS too, but I'm a little... scared.... Can anyone refer to a website that has some good information on these kinda things?
Thanks

You should of asked this question before you bought the flowmaster . Flowmasters sound good but are a chambered muffler that doesn't flow good at all compared to other catback systems....like magnaflow, hooker, gmmg...etc. By what you've done so far it doesn't seem like you really want performance...from the body kit to the woofers...it all adds weight. The three best bolt-on mods you can do for a auto are long tube headers, LS6 intake manifold, and a higher stall torque converter for the tranny. The headers and intake will allow the motor to breathe...people have stated gains of 25+rwhp from headers alone...and about 10rwhp for the manifold on a internally stock motor. The torque converter with say a 3500 stall rpm will put you in the power band and eliminate most of the "dead spots" in the tranny. If you don't know what the dead spots are....you will so enough when you hit it from a roll and the tranny doesn't kick down. Also do the free mods at this website...good luck. Oh and make sure you put in a tranny cooler in you throw a stall in
