Need Racing Advice!! Please Help!!

Alrite guys, ive had my 00 Z28 for about 3 months now itz an M6 n all i got is an SLP lid...i need some racing advice. At wat RPM do i shift when im racing?? at wat RPM do LS1s make the most power?? If im doing like 75 on the freeway n someone wants to race what gear do i downshift 2?? How bout from a 20 or 30 roll?? If im at a light at wat RPM do i launch from?? sorry for all the newby questions...some guy in a 00 Z28 wants to race me for fun n itz my first race so i dont want to completely embarrass myself lol...thanx for all the advice fellas..i apreciate it!!

I just got my car not too long ago, and I am still learning,

Practice makes perfect. I know my car maxs out second at about 70 or a bit more. so If you are near 65 -70 you should drop it in third, that is the sweet spot for the LS1. Pulls like crazy there.

30 MPH roll, = 2nd gear in my opinion.

launch RPM-- I am the wrong person to ask, because I am horrible at launching this car with effectiveness. I either just take off with no spin, and wait for the RPMs to climb, or I spin a lot in first gear. So I will follow this post, and look for pointers for taking off as well.

Get an automatic and put a shift kit, torque converter, 3.73 gears, V6 springs for the rear, and some good racing tires you should be ok

If your going to race just make sure the gear your in is higher than 3k. From your 20 to 30 leave it in first. If your at a light depends on what kind of tires you have I'm going to guess stock, just ride the clutch a little so you don't spin. If your going 75 leave it in third gear!

Why would he want to put a automatic in it, his m6 is just mine. He's didn't state he had any problems with it!

yeah do a costly transmission swap/ or sell your car and buy an automatic. and take away much of the sport in your sports car. --- please note saracasm---

But yeah...bout my tires...i got 275s street tires in the back...dealer put em on brand new since when i test drove it, it had bald tires

i have an 01 ss with slp intake and exhaust and bfgoodrich kdw's and i launch the car at 2200 RPM its all bout feathering the slack out of ur clutch and dumping it man
