Not a great one but still. On the way home from work yesterday travelling down hwy 64 I notice a white 97-99 Eclipse GS something (don't know if it was an x or T) seeming to pace me down the highway. We passed each other a few times due to heavy traffic and being in a local cop hotspot here we didn't really play. This continued through a few small towns till we cam to the first redlight where he was beside me but we were both behind someone. I took off a little heavy and noticed him trying to keep pace. Game on. When the town limit approaches and the speed limit raises I speed up a little faster than normal to 80 but get stuck there due to the last bastion of traffic. He flys by. So I downshift to 4 and chase. I started pulling fast and by about 120ish I'm going by him. I get by him and since the Hwy is a divided 4 lane highway with a long straight I stay in it to assure no ricer flyby until right at 150 (fastest I have ever been in any car) when I let out and slow down with almost a foot ball field inbetween. He lines up again at about 70 again! I say OK hit the horn thrice and It's like there was no race at all. I gave a thumbs up as I slowed to turn back around didn't see what he did but it was fun never the less. Was in the stock GTO btw.

Nice race. Just curious tho! Is there a reason you guys mostly pick on the smaller cripled guys? A v8 vs 4cyl isnt even a race. Its like a waste of gas. Unless the guy is highly modded. I see races like this all the time and I just ask why? Point being is b/c if you get caught your going to jail! car prob getting impounded and so on. So while in jail your going to be asked what you did. Now you gotta say I was racing a eclipse, or civic, or escort,ETC Well now this makes you look as bad as the civic ricers all street racing.

The only way they get away with it is b/c there car isnt powerful enough to get to the speed limit more like 100 over!!! Vs the T/A, Camaro's corvettes, Mustanges, Chargers are all capable of well over 140+ MPH

But seriously if I am going to spend the gas to race someone and im going to spend the night in jail if I get caught I damn sure am not going to be racing a civic or eclipse. I want a race worth while!

Not raggin on ya man! I just see too many posts about people playing with the 4cyl like there something awesome if they beat them!

Dont worry, I dont waste my gas on them. Basically every kill I have is another LS1 powered car. The only kill that wasnt was a GTP.

The reason its fun is because most ricers think their cars are fast. They think something like a stock Eclipse GS-T will waste just about any muscle car ever invented. They think Muscle cars are "slow and heavy" and "have no top end" and the "tuner scene" is the wave of the future.

So by absolutely destroying them in a race, they get a huge reality check. The expressions on their faces are often priceless, because they are in awe. Amazed that their type-r 4 banger could lose to an American Muscle car. And thats what makes it totally worth it.

the only time a maro or a t/a should race a ricer or something that will obviously get smashed by an LS1 is if the instigate the race. IMO. I wouldn't go revving at an import or a mustang for that matter. If they are smart they wont do shit, if the are highly modded the may rev, if they are stupid they will rev.

preach on brother. I have yet to race anyone in my car, but raced several times when I had my 97 T/A. that was when fast and the furious first hit the screen and every civic with a fart can thought they could take me. good times. I miss being young and dumb. lol

When I saw him the very first time trying to keep pace and then when he flew by me like he accomplished something I had to show him the way down. His GF was in the car too forgot to mention that, guess he though he had to show her he had balls to mess with the big 6.0.

Yeah, that happened to me once. A friend of a friend once tried to tell me his Civic was faster because it weighed 1500lbs lighter. He also tried to tell me that my car was all steel and his new fiberglass body kit was the reason he was faster. Let me tell you, he was shocked (his face was priceless) when I knocked on my front fender to show it was fiberglass and not steel.

nice kill. i will admit that you can make a dsm pretty fast with some work. i was looking at getting one at one time that was done in such a matter. it had 1000 in head work a garret turbo and 1050 injectors. it was the meanest japanese car i had ever driven. it would smoke all 4 wheels at 1/2 throttle with no problem, but then again that one was dyno'd at 470hp @24psi

I wish I got picked on more because I really never instigate anything. I've played around with a few GTO's, a couple F-bodies and 'Vettes but under each circumstance we were both

. The last car I instigated was a C5 Z06 but I just wanted to see him drop to 3rd and punch it! He probably thought I was an a$$ though. I generally don't even take the bait from ricers though to be honest. Not worth it to me.

i dont know where you are from in tn but in murfreesboro there are'nt many things except beat up mustang gt's and civics with a spoiler and some stickers there are maybe 2 other camaros in my area but both are lt1 and 4 or 5 GTO most of them have older drivers that like playing but never actually run so i dont really get too many runs against anything but these people in their civics
