Firearms people enter
What does it mean exactly when a gun is advertised as a "preban" model? If something is banned, doesnt it mean all models of all years are banned? I'm jsut not getting something...

it means if you have something before it was banned, you can still have it but it's sometimes referred to as 'preban'

preban was an off-limit weapon constructed before the ban went into effect. it was therefore OK to trade the gun DURING the ban. now, the ban is gone, and they are all the same.
inother words if you HAD to have an ak47 with bayonet, high cap mag, pistol grip, flashsuppresor, etc.. during the ban, you had to buy a preban gun.

I understand that if you already owned it its ok... but how do they justify selling it to a new owner after it has been banned? i'm still missing something... are "preban" weapons for sale technically illegal or something?

LOL. good luck. IIRC NJ doesnt allow the sale of pre-ban weapons.

Just remember that regardless of the expiration of the federal Ban, that some states still have their own bans in effect, such as NJ and CA.
