Looking At exhaust any suggestions

I have a 2002 WS6 and I'm looking at headers and pipes. I live in CA so I'm stuck with all the smog crap. I'll go with Borla cat back (love the sound) But not too sure about the headers. I'm looking to hear from others about their choices and success or problems.

I line in CA and have a big cam, no cats, LT's, the whole works. I said who gives a crap about smog But check out the stainless steel works chambered exhaust system or the B+B true dual setup matched with a set of hookers or pacesetters. If you do the true duals though, you get an x pipe and all so no worries about getting a y pipe

Up here in Ontario, Canada, our emissions laws are pretty much the same as there in Cali. I'd be interested in hearing if something like the SLP tuned length LT headers are emissions friendly. They say they have the A.I.R fittings, but I'm not sure if that means they are "50 state" legal.

Anyone with any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The Stainless works headers With cats and y pipe look really nice add the borla = all stainless exhaust for about 2K. anyone else tried the works system?

I know a few guys and they put out some nice numbers. A couple more than the SLP LT's. But as far as the SLP's being emmisions friendly, they do retain the stock AIR and EGR and you can use high flow cats. I've heard of people here passing with that setup

Now you're getting me kind of excited!!! I'll definitely look into the SLP LT's when the time comes. Probably in a couple of years, but I really like the idea of LT's either way.

My Borla got really RASPY after my Kook's LT header install. Keep this in mind if you do NOT like a raspy sound.

went to the local speed shop JBA in san diego to discuss my build up. Getting the subframe connectors put on in 2 weeks. Started discussing putting in a Procharger 6-8 # boost. He highly recommended JBA (big suprise) stainless headers with titanium coating. He explained that the titanium coating works better than ceramic at keeping the heat out of the engine bay. They are stock replacement and are CARB certified in 50 states. They are also $1300 bucks (ouch!!). I have the ram air so I believe I have 3" pipes between headers and cats. Any thoughts on these or is this guy just tring to sell his stuff? He was very helpful and I believe he was giving me his honest opinion but would like to hear from others. google jbaheaders to look at website.

Yeah uhh those JBA shorties are useless. Shorty headers will give almost 0 gains over the stock exhaust manifolds (which actually flow pretty well). Go longtubes or not at all. Emissions will be tough in Cali though.

I have a 98 T/a with stock exhaust. I was interested also in getting a better sound out of the exhaust. I am not looking to change the manifolds, but was looking for some suggestions. Possibly even just a muffler change. I like the flowmaster sound, but was wondering on other suggestions. thanks.

well if you are concerned with smog then keep all of your stock stuff, replace it when it is time for your smog, then put it back on.

i am in florida and have no smog restrictions. Just looking for good sound without too much work.
