    somethings out of balance!

okay... just put in a new clutch and resurfaced flywheel and there is a vibration at about 1200 to 2500 rpms whether the clutch is in or out. the weird thing is that it goes away at idle (800 rpms). I thought the pressure plate might be out of balance but I doubt it. if it were in the clutch, wouldn't it do it all the time? and as the speed increases, you'd think that the vibration would get worse, which it doesn't. this is weird. anyone have the same thing happen?

What brand is the clutch? I had a new Spec assembly and it was vibrating because it was out of balance. More or less like yours. I'm actually discussing with them about this issue and they are telling me BS about a bad install. Fact is that vibrations come of out of balance.
A good job is resurfacing the flywheel, then balance it to 0, then balance flywheel and PP bolted together. Best thing is to mark the bolts so you'll know which one goes where (unless you're sure they are all the same).

Damn, that must be what happened to mine, about the same RPM with a Spec 2 clutch. Is it bad for anything? Should I be worried about it?

No vibration is good. Damn that is some shitty luck.

I just don't understand! If the flywheel is balanced when I took it out, and machined an equal amount off of the surface, how could it be OUT of balance? it's not like the flywheel was warped or they took off uneven amounts. I almost think it's the press plate itself... but they claim to be better than stock as far as the balance is concerned.

...the more I deal with cars the less I belive that 95% of what vendors tell is BS.
They just don't give a #uck. The more they sell, the higher is their income.
Better than stock... and 1/2 the price? Yeah!

It's true: normally you don't need to balance a flywheel after it has been resurfaced. Chances are that the pressure plate is off

I thought the vibration was when you were moving, sorry.
