what to spend $1700 on?
I'm buying a 2001/2002 z28/formula/trans-am within the next month and I'll have a little extra money to spend on mods. I'm already counting on spending about $2300 on a moser 12 bolt rear end. What will give me the most bang for the buck for the remaining $1700? What kind of hp/tq can I expect? BTW, anything that will require extensive labor I'll probably have a shop do (the 1700 includes any installation) I have basic wrenching skills (i'll be putting in the rear end) but I don't have much experience with engine mods (cams, etc). Also what's the widest tire I can fit on stock rims?

the tire is what ever it came with i think, but do sub frames, lid, ported throttle body, borla.

Not trying to be a wise ass, but I would hold off and see what this damn gasoline situation is gonna be like. Remember heads, cam= more fuel.
I'm thinking about buying some kinda 4cyl shit box and using the Ls1 on weekends.
Do some suspension stuff. leave the engine as stock as possible. Unless this is your weekend race car.
Blower, nitrous kit, cam; the stock heads are pretty damn good. You got a lot of options for 1700

it's a m6. It'll be primarily a street car.

Put a bottle on it and get a few suspension parts.

You can go wider than the stock tires...I believe that I had 255s on the stock rims.
I'd spend my money on suspension and a good (V1) radar detector...and perhaps save $500 for bail...

Pacesetter headers + Y pipe ($450 do it yourself), Cam ($600 installed), QTP elec cutout ($200 do it yourself), lid ($100 do it yourself), + tune ($400) = $1750 and you just got 100 HP.
