350 in a 99 Camaro?
I have a 99 camaro V6 with just a few simple mods, the other day i raced a 74 corvette stingray, we both have automatics and started the same time no head starts just a straight up race. The vette has a 350 but i still smoked him, he might be getting a new engine soon and sell his 350, if i get that 350 would it be faster in my car? or slower since i beaten him so badly

I would think the simplest way to figure this out is by comparing hp and torque ratings of each motor, adjusting for weight.

But the thing is there is no dyno things around here, are those stingrays suppose to be fast at all?

Yea that 350 has already had a rebuld, the only thing wrong with it is, getting a new intake, but the intake shouldnt be slowing it down that much

they were rated at like 225 hp. (emissions) they ran like low-mid 16s, I just bought an 1981 L-81 it's snappy but that's it, it's a fun car and it was fast for it's day, but I would buy the engine, then stroke it to a 383, give it a cam and a good port/polish job on the heads, and then you'd do alright.

It's pretty much the same as my 79 Vette and it is not that fast. Mines in the 14's on original motor no cats, no smog pump, Transgo shift kit and air hog filter. It's fairly quick, but no comparison to the TA. I've only raced one car with it and it was an riced 5spd integra that I spanked easy. If your going to do a V8 swap deffinitly do the 383 build or do an LSx swap from a crashed 4th gen f-bod.

Don't overlook the obvious here. You're talking about a Carbed 350 going into a ECM'd car. Yes, it could be done, but dumping several grand into a project like that really won't be worth it. Either do a Lsx swap, or look into the trade-in concept, it's a lot cheaper. As a wise-ass side note, you should take into consideration why you have the V6. Parents? They're not going to let you do a swap. Money? It only gets more expensive! Insurance? You're going to wreck the car, and since you'll be insured as a V6, you'll lose every cent you had in it. V8 + High School Kid = Sad parents and expensive funeral costs.
Just admit that since your six cylinder can beat a Stingray, it's plenty fast enough. Speed is an addiction, and as any addictee can tell you, you've gotta build your way up, or you're gonna be a skid-mark. Congrats on beatin a vette! She's baaaaaccccck...
