those engines are notorious for leaking intake manifold gaskets...and they kinda suck to do. got to take the rockers and pushrods out etc...I've done a couple. not really fun. goodluck

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
how savy are you with top-end engine components? It's basically all a puzzle, just in reverse. If it comes of, it has to go back on.

pretty sure..dosnt say it on the top of the block..thats what i was informed that it is when i picked it up from my buddy last yr...96 monte base model...top of the intake dosnt say a thing...no 3100..no 3.1..its pretty fukin slow though ........ah wait just remembered..yes it has to be the 3.1 ..when i looked up the oil filter i did it for the 3.1 ..it fits..and the 3.4 had a diff filter

i did some quick googling...it seems the 3.4/3.1 L share a lot of commonalities. perhaps you can google some 3.4 rebuilds?

Pull the upper and lower, you shouldn't have to pull pushrods for a manny gasket. go check out www.60degreeV6.com

here, maybe this will help you understand, notice the position of the pushrods, and where the intake gasket is. The push rods are behind and go through the gasket. The pushrods have to come out to replace the gasket.
