I have an a4, and my problem is, from 1st to 2nd, when floored, most of the time it will slip, or ''red line'' before it shifts. Took it to a dealer, they said it looked fine, they reset the timing to stock, and updated it via computer. ''Stock timings before hand anyway'' And now it seems like when it shifts, it makes a sound like the clutch is worn, well if that's what u call it in a auto, how can i tell if the ''clutch is worn in a auto''? Im going to take it back before my miles expires the warranty and get them to fix it.
Thanks

that is because the torque convertor input rpm is not equal to the output rpm, so it's acting like a slipping clutch.

How can this be fixed?

Its either a major tuning issue or your tranny is gonna take a shit
MINE IS DOING THE SAME THING...
stock tune and converter etc
right at 154k, changed fluid at 140... thick and black with lots of metal...

yeah, go to a shop and get them to flush your tranny and converter. when you drop the pan to service it, you only dump out 4 old quarts, a 4L60E holds 15, when they flush it, it cleans out the whole system, tranny and converter. should cost about $125 and take a few hours.

try manual shifting it at around 5200, if you dont want to do that, let off the gas a lil before gettin to the redline.

drive around it. i do.
The problem can be compensated for by a tuner by changing your shifting parameters tables in the CPUs program. But I'm afraid your tranny is about toast. I went thru the same thing until I gave up and bought one of Performabuilts Stage 2 4L60es. I had mine built by the locals and after a month or two it was the same crap all over again. So I say take the car to the local dragstrip and see how it holds up. If its gonna go out you might as well get it done under warranty. You can also try running an extra quart of fluid in the 4l60e. I've seen mixed results but it might work!
Tranny is fucked. You either have something wrong with valvebody of tranny or clutches are toast? Either way take it to dealer and fix it!!

The dealer wont touch it unless they can recreate it.. and it never does it when i want to..

Find someone with a data logging program and log that data and save it and show the dealer
