we did three runs.
motor vs 20 psi = was from a 45 roll. three honks i took him by about a car. as he spooled up he caught up. shifted and he dropped back slightly. once spooled back up, he had me by about 1 1/2 cars when i let out.
spray vs 20 psi = this was from a 30 roll. not even close. left him by three cars and let out.
spray vs 20 psi v.2 = i let him go from a 45 roll. even worse. this time i didn't let out until he was about 1/8 mile back.

Good kill. What size shot are you running?

i ran a 03' GTI with 15-20 psi, that eclipse must have had a great tune or something, because i killed this GTI and i'm almost stock

wow, 20 psi...that's HUGE

eh its not that HUGE, in the world of tuners and ricers, upwards of 40 is HUGE
from what i have seen around here anyways

there's a place i frequent that works on vipers and such. he just got done with a neon. stock shortblock. 24 psi, 370 fwhp. he said the shortblock can take that all day.

yeah that vr4 galant is the same platform as the evo 3 in japan. Watch out.

Just because one car runs the same boost as another doesn't mean that they will pump out the same power.
Different turbos with different efficiencies can yield VERY different power levels at identical boost levels, even on identical engines.
My Eclipse with a 16G turbo would probably run in the low 12s at 20psi. I've never run the boost that low at the track, so I don't know for sure. But with boost levels higher than that, I don't get as enormous difference in power as my race boost levels (between 25 and 30psi on any given run) might imply. So I only end up running 11.82 and 118mph or so.
With a larger turbo on the car, I could run even faster at a lower boost level. But I'd end up turning the boost up even more. ;)

You got it, rusty pushrod. :dunno:

That's ok, I don't have VTEC. Only boost. ;)

I'd love to see a "Rusty Pushrod" w/ 24psi run an Eclipse w/ the same... I don't really ever see any FBodies w/ Turbo systems and it seems to be the only thing a DSM GSX "Boosty" would ever have in their favor, Just my opinion. :approved:

Me too! I'm sure it would kick ass, if it could find any traction.

ShapeGSX, how much $$ u got invested in performance in your eclipse

I dunno, maybe $5000. I've been modding it since I bought it new in 1997. You know how stuff can add up over the years. :)

I decent turbo system for a LS1 runs about $5-7k... STS I heard is a midrange system that doesn't really produce a great deal amount of power...PTK (ProTurbo Kits) are the all around best if you were wondering. But they run $8k and up...sucks huh? Most of them are rear mounted turbo's...I'm thinkin a nice Procharger...

do you knwo what turbo was in the eclipse? or what year it was. also...20si on a stock gti with their shitty lil turbo would probably give them less power because the turbo is so small and would heat the boost up a lot.

I raced a GSX with 20lbs of boost in my other ta. He had me off the line all the way till I was at the top of 2nd. After that it was all over. Had him by about 2 cars.

Saying "I beat an Eclipse with 20psi" makes as much sense as me saying "I beat an LS1 F-body at 0psi" (naturally aspirated).
In both cases, we have stated the thoretical pressure in the manifold. But both cars could be running anywhere from somewhere in the 14s to somewhere in the 11s. There is so much more to the equation than intake manifold pressure. On N/A cars, this seems to be understood (cams, heads, tune, exhaust, etc get mentioned). But with turbo cars, supercharged cars, or nitrous cars, the boost or the shot is the only yardstick that tends to be used.

i,ve run my buddies eclipse, it is a 96 gst w/ a 6 bolt crank from a first gen model, he's got a complete top end rebuild plus forgred rods and pistons. i cant remember what turbo but im thinking a 16g. he ran 26 pounds on the car. my bone stock ls1 w/ a flowmaster muffler pulled him about 3/4 of a car from a 20 roll.
