I have a 97 ss 6spd.the trouble im having is it doesnt want to go in gear sometimes, like if im pulling up to a red light and i just put it in neutral its hard to get back in first, but if i downshift to second then first while approaching the light it does just fine.also sometimes it doesnt want to go in reverse but if i put it in reverse or 6th before i start the car it will go in just fine.i dont know if its the clutch or what.a friend of mine said it may be shift forks, but im not sure.

It's probably either the clutch or the slave cylinder, assuming there are no driveability problems with the transmission itself when it is in any gears.

Driveability is fine once i get it into gear, but sometimes reverse is really hard to get in,unless the car is not running and i put in 6th then it seems to go in fine.

Probably the synchros for that particular gear, if the slave or clutch were bad you'd have trouble gettin it into any gear.

I'd guess synchros

That was the signs of my synchros going out when they did. It started out really small and got progressively worse throughout the different gears.

You have to have the tranny out of the car to be taking synchros out of it. That is an internal part of the tranny. The whole thing has to come apart.
