Moser 9"

The S60 mounts to the torque arm so that if it breaks...the whole housing it toast.
Is that rare?? Yes. But if it happens....

I have strange 12 bolt and I suggest you get the Moser 9 with the gun drilled axels.I'll say this strange will not help you if you have problem with there product.

Costs the same as a regular Moser 9" however you still need to buy the third member after words. Not worth the extra $ imo

is the 9" stronger than the s60, and is it as they would say user friendly?

yes it's stronger... also a but lighter... and you can pop out your pumpkin if you got an extra and swap gear ratios... hav eone for the trak and one for the street... :D

If only it was that easy on our cars.

Thinking of going to 4.30's with mine (probably will actually).
The D60 is said to be the stronger rearend...I just don't like how the torque arm connects to it. If it goes...the whole rear housing goes.

also... with the dana S60 you HAVE to either cut your drive shaft down or order a shorter one...

 there is nothing easy about our cars... :true:

4.30s' would be fun for the track... :yup: i think 4.55's would make 1st gear completly useless...

Not if you are running a 28" tire. :)
I have been fighting a bog coming out of the hole, so I figure why not try some gear.
As soon as I have the money.

that is true but if you ordered a moser 9" wouldnt u want a different drive shaft anyway than the stock one?

what i also like is that gm high tech mag has done test on cars that have been equipped with this rearend and dont seem to have any problems i think also that a gm performance parts tester camaro is equipped with the same rear end . i know most of the guys who have swapped their rears on here have used the moser units, but i figure if the mags and such use the s60 it must be good:hmm::dunno:

I trust very little magazines do.
They have unlimited resources.

All I know....I have a 4.11'd TruTrac Moser 9", with a decent amount of power.
I drop from 6700 at times and have has zero issue (other than a leak, which was my own fault) with the rearend.

Mr. Luos this might sound retarded but why do u want higher ratios? I know a lot of people with strokers and they are downgrading their gears. They can get the motor to spin past 6.5k so i guess the extra power/torque makes up for the higher gear ratios. If u get higher gears, wont u be shifting non-stop and hit ur rev limiter much much faster?

Ideal gears are 4.30's and a 28" tire for my set-up...at the track. And at sea level.

I run a 27" Hoosier. Trap at 118 or so at altitude.
4.56 and 27" tire would be ideal at altitude.

The 4.11 to 4.30 is a minimal change, but may help the bog outta the hole. Won't be shifting anymore than I do now. :)

And yeah....Slowass. :lmao:

i was lookin on the moser website but couldnt find a drop in package like the strange one it seems that you have to build it up i know what i want but just thought it would be easier from a pakage already put together. have an m6 so i know i wanted 4.10 gears. mr. luos did u order yours directly from the manufacture, were u able to order a drive shaft from there or had custom, or used stock. please info would really appreciate the help. the reason i ask is that i want to bullit proof my rearend, im doin the suspension also before i mod the engine. im goin that route i want to see what it can do stock engine, with suspension upgrades and good strong rear.

I have a slightly longer driveshaft than stock, but my stocker fits just fine with the 9"
I ordered mine from Exotic Performance Plus.

It is bolt in, but you need to use your stock backing plates, so it comes in pieces. You will need to get the axle bearings pressed onto the axles...with the backing plates in place against the hub.

Otherwise, it all pieces together with the use of basic tools.

Got it off a friend that had it built at a local driveline shop.

My stock aluminum driveshaft fits great though. Just need the 1350 yoke

I'm doing the same. I hit the brakes too. I'm getting antsy for power, but the gear change is making me happy for a little while. I really like the idea that I won't need to worry much about not being able to drive home after going to the track. Especially seeing it's at least a 1.5 hour drive for me each way.

i wouldn't just toss in a rear from any company... i'd get my buddy to make sure it has the proper back lash before i drive around for the break in...

3 or 4 channel will be dependent on your car. Easy way to check is look for wiring, it will either go to the center section (3 channel) or towards each wheel (4 channel).

About to get a 9" myself, just need to wait for hurricane stuff to clear up, and to get some more free time for the install. EPP so far has been one of the best prices for anyone that I have been able to find for a drop in Moser 9"

Mr. Luos
10-16-2008, 08:23 AM
2 channel here.
On a 4 channel car. :)

I never used the ABS (fair weather car) and I never EVER had the TCS on.

Very dependent.

Seen stock cars pretzel the aluminum ones on slicks.
Cut 1.67's on DR's with my stocker as well.

El Toro Loco
10-16-2008, 07:42 PM
would it be wise just to order or have a stronger one made, than to risk it with the stocker

Launching hard?

I got the S60 w/ 3.73's and a tru track for my bird. Ordered a new drive shaft with it, because the original one will not fit. It was like 2600 or 2700 to the door. Everything bolts up good with the exception of the mounts for the sway bar. I had to modify that, not a real big deal though. I really like it. Oh... and it is a heavy bitch too, lol.

rear ends arent ET increasers..the gears are but you buy a rear end to handle the power and bring the power to the floor..
