Just to get a comparison of power around here.
Pre mod, post mod, whatever you got. List year, car model, motor, tranny type, gears, and mods for an accurate comparison.
2000 Chevy Corvette, LS1, MN6, stock gears 3.42s. Mods Halltech stinger intake.
Dynoed @ 319.9 RWHP/33x.x RWTQ.
Added: Kooks LT headers, high flow cats, MTI G1 cam, U/D pulley, LS6 Intake and tuned.
Dynoed @ 375.5 RWHP/355.x RWTQ.
Wasn't too happy about it, I spent some major $$ and I was expecting more. But most say that's about right.

see my sig. god..Mine's pathetic...but looking at people's with similar mods has shown me that it's where it should be about. I dynoed mine on a Mustang Dyno-i hear that is a more representational dyno. I see those who have gotten massive increases just by tuning...makes think i should drop the $250 and do it....

My first dyno in June 2005 was 183/220
Mods are exhaust and intake, untouched PCM, bad IAT, bad coil pack and a T-5 full of water running 87 octane gas.I ran it purely for a baseline number. I have added a boat load of Mods since then with a full PCM tune. So I am ready for the next Dyno to see what I have added. -Tim

To all the setups that have lids, headers & cat backs that claim 370+ HP I call BS.
Your dyno's are being too generous, way too generous.
The reason I say that, they had #'s way to high for pretty much the same mods as the cars below, & me, which is also below.
It wouldn't be the 1st time people have dyno'd higher only to find the dyno they've gone to was a bit "generous".
These cars:

Ok, so here are my dyno results: Killer_Bluebird you were right, and I'm still flabbergasted!!! :dunno: This tells me the LS1 came from the factory really solid in terms of tuning.
1st Run: With HPP III:
HP: 327.2 TQ: 328.4
2nd Run: W/O HPP III:
HP: 325.6 TQ: 330.3
I chose not to do the third run because both times my car was running lean! The car was even more lean with the HPP III. Not good unless you want to burn a hole in a piston or blow a head gasket. I'd rather lose the 2HP and gain the torque (2 ft/lb). Overall I am very pleased with the results and damn does the Loudmouth sound great, but still not loud enough!!!

My 02's factory tuning was terrible.. I dyno'd 284 SAE rwhp I think(within a h.p or 2) and after just the Predator tuners out of the box tune my #'s went to 307.1 SAE rwhp, can't remember the TQ #'s, but was a good gain.

2002 Z28 A4 with 29,800 miles. Mods are lid and magnaflow muffler. I made 4 Dyno pulls Trying To Prove the worth of the hand held Tuners.
First pull with Hypertech Power Program made 303.04 Max Power with Max Torque 331.50. Run Conditions: 71.42 degrees, 30.14 in-Hg, Humidity 31%.
Second pull Using Stock Program made 311.04 Max Power with Max Torque 326.95, Temperature at 74.31 degrees
Third pull was with new Predator, version 2.11, made 311.30 Max Power with Max Torque 326.53, Temperature at 75.15 degrees
Fourth pull was made with the Predator, Lid opened up, made 312.59 Max Power with Max Torque 327.57, Temperature at 78.57 degrees.
In summary: the Hypertech run had a Torque Spike that resulted in the higher reading. The torque fell off starting at about 4200rpm. Also Air/Fuel ratio was 12.17 fairly flat across the run. Most Importantly, the Predator and Stock Programs were identical with an Air/Fuel ratio of 12.55. The Dyno Chart shows one line from 3500 rpm all the way to 6000rpm. I suspect the Predator could be leaned for another 10-12 horsepower.

Mods are Stage 2 ported heads w/triple valve springs, 234/236 114 LSA, SLP longtubes, Mass air, and 4:10 gears. And a tune by the Vette Doctors. The car is also a 6-speed. The car also had the stock clutch. I figured the clutch was slipping on the dyno.

Thanks for the compliment on the #'s, like I said that was PEAK, the average # was 446.2 RWHP and 438.6 RWTQ

I'm trying to get my 99 TA A4 dyno-ed, Corsa cut back exhaust, HPP3 programmer,
SLP lid, SLP MAF and SLP cold air induction kit, SLP smooth bellow, 160 SLP thermo, stock engine and transmission..
I live in Irving texas (dallas area). All the dyno places I called they only run dyno pulls
3 for 50-75 bucks. they don't have any software for tuning for LS1. bummer.
Should I be ok with just HyperTech Prog3 that I got looking above, or should I require
the dyno people to use professional tuning softare lile LSedit, HPTuner etc..
whould it be worth the $$ to tune with my mods or HPP3 that I tuned with should be about the same. I know if you got supercharger or nitros or head/cam on engine then
definetely yes do a pro tune, but in my case what's the advice?
Thanks...
BTW. do you know a dyno in Dallas area that actually uses LS1 soft to tune anyways.
and prices for the tune.. Thanks!!!

Have you read the whole thread? Sorry to break it to you. Look at page 4 and you'll see that HPP3 is junk.
See my old Dynosheet below. The fist of these pulls had HPP3 the second I deprogrammed it and ran it imediately. The last we waited 5 min and re ran it. This was with a K&N+Lid+smooth bellow and stock exhaust.
Compression Ratio.
ah, ok. Sorry about that lol, noob like I said.
I "believe" now the motor is set up at 9.5:1. I go back to the shop Monday after work to drop the car off for some minor adjustments so I will ask then so I can tell you what it is for sure

I have felt very little impact with the HPP3, you are correct, 4-5rwhp probably which is not worth $300 bucks. btw, if I do find a dyno shop to tune it as well with LS1 soft,
I would probably pay 300-400 to get it don right. my question is, if I need to go to a mechanic shop in the future I would have to revert the car's programming to "stock", or just leave it tuned up and it should be fine? comments please..
Thanks!

I just got my 98 Trans Am WS6 dynoed for the first time last night,
I pulled 341 hp at the rear wheels and 356.8 torque
My mods are SLP lid and bellows, loudmouth, SLP harmonic balancer pulley, and the Computer edited from SLP.
That seems like a lot of HP does that seem right with the mods that I have? If you lose 20% in the drivetrain that means im at about 410 at the flywheel. Do these numbers seem right? Im happy with them but I dont want to be mislead.

"98ramairguy".. I did not know they make WS6, 325hp at engine in 1998,, but I thought those were 2000 and on,, but I may be mistaken. if you have manual transmission then it's only about 14-15% loss, the A4 get 18%.. yeah, I think the dyno is a little generous to get 40rwhp gain from stock you need a little more mods,
are you sure the car was not moded a little before you got it? 325-330rwhp is more like what you should be having. Check with another dyno, also I heard the Mustang dynos are a little more generous.. so check it out with another dyno shop..
what's your 1/4 mile by any chance?

Ok guys got the Cam installed and got her tuned. these are the new numbers, will update sig in a little bit. Cam Specs: Comp Cam 224/244 .581/.581 112LSA
SAE Dyno corrected: 350.1 RWHP 344.7 RWTQ thats a nice increase from whats in my sig. 25hp and 14 lbs/tq respectively
Next mods LS6 intake and LT will really wake up the HP and TQ
but with what i have currently im very happy with the results
