the guy had gears,( he wouldnt admite to what size), full exhaust and a cai.
twice we went from a stop and he got the hit. i went right around him easily and by the time i got to 90 or so, i had a bus on him.
cool guy though, he gave me the thumps up while his buddy was laughing at him.
they asked what mods i had, i just said full exhaust while smiling

Nice kill. Hell yeah, according to your sig, you would put a bus or so on him. He should be around 310rwhp/320tq and running 12.9-13-1 or so with stock tires on that set up. 12.6/7ish with DR's. Somewhere in that neighborhood, nowhere close to you. What do you have done to it though??? Just the full exhaust?

I would imagine from a roll, you could put lengths on a bolt on S197 depending on which bolt ons he had. In the 1/4, I doubt you could put too many lengths with a real driver though.

BTW, I found a vid that truthfully explains how the races go when an LS1 does beat a 3 valve in the 1/4, and it wasn't 5 lengths and all that jazz. If they get beat, it's probably like this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ31K0bOibk) The drivin was asleep, I think it should've been closer even though the T/A was stronger in accleration.

I'm not familiar with your mods and what they do to the LS1, but I think I can run ya about dead even with the winner going to whoever drives the best that day with my current set up, assuming this guy has the 3:55's in his 07. What is it going to take for you [CamaroFan] to realize that S197 Mustangs and LS1 F-bodies ARE NOT equal? Stock for stock, bolt-on for bolt-on...they are NOT equal. Period! I think it's ironic how you keep trying to make the 05-up Mustangs like they are an even match for an LS1. They just aren't. I notice in every situation you blame it on the driver, like you are Evan Smith or something. :ughlaugh: Everytime, "the driver", "the driver". LS1's are a more potent powerplant, simple as that.

I think you have misunderstood me if you think I think they are EQUAL. There's no replacement for displacement. I'm a big quoter of that. My arguement has always been that LS1 dudes lie all the time and I used to believe all the hype, yet stock for stock, they are about 2., maybe tenths apart with equal drivers, not a full second and all that garbage you hear. Yes, I think Ford can compete with Chevy, and I grew up a HUGE GM Fan, and I still am. Actually, everytime I post my LS2 kills, the Driver excuse is brought up here too. Don't make me start showing the vids again. Bring a lightly modded LS1 my way and I'll chew it up N/A with under 2000 into my ride right now. If we were about 1 second slower than you guys, then I'd say we are in a different league......FAIL. You are not that fast. Modded?? The LS1 is unrivaled when it comes to N/A potential. Unbeatable? Hell no.

See, that's the problem. When you say "lightly modded", do you mean mod for mod with everything you have done to your car? Because if you do, then you would lose! Your car mod for mod is not going to "chew" up an LS1, and if you think taking advantage of impaired Camaro & Firebird drivers makes your Mustang superior to modded LS1's then your trippin' my friend. When I saw my bro go 13.2/107.4 in his bone-stock SOM '02 T/A on street tires, and back it up with 13.30s-13.40's over and over again, I knew what those motors were capable of with the right driver. I'm sorry but it's going to take you more that 2-tenths to keep up with a driver that knows what he's doing.

Mod for mod has never been realistic to me when I went out to consider a car. Each car wakes up with it's own set up. With LS1's, it's no secret the heads/cams/full exhaust will get you to the promise land, so to speak. With our cars, Boost is the way to go because we have a lower compression, so we can be more risky when it comes to pounds compared to you guys. Oh, and you had better hope that Ford doesn't do this (http://www.stangnet.com/2010-Ford-Mustang/Rumor-Mill-Return-of-the-50-Powerplant-080922.html) because it would completely give me fuel against your GM superiority arguement. I believe I would get banned from this site. Ford, with this motor would be using a bit of LSx science by having a high compression, which would respond to N/A mods like the LSx motors do...........And yet still, less cubes to attain this.

13.20's for a stock S197? I'd have to see that one with my own two eyes. You'd be lucky to see one go within 5-tenths of that down here, and i'm at Sea Level surrounded by three good tracks. Now 12.80's for a stock LS1 SS, that's a different story. Proof is in the pudding on that one.

I could run your 13.40s at sea level in my car when it was stock, no prob, just drive it like it should be driven. And whatever comments made about my high altitude time is comical to me because there was an LS2 right behind me in both vids. Too bad I didn't have the cam when I got the 2 Maros.

i raced a new body style mustang one night i was heading to my hometown with the wife, ac on , i have a box with 2 12" subwoofers, amp, and luggage on the back seats, i was cruising at 75 on the right lane, then i come up to a mustang and he slows down to like 45 si just turn to the middle lane, and he floors it, so it was on, by like 105 i had 3 cars on him. couple of days ago raced a shelby not impressed at all either beat him once as well, second run he beat me cuz i have an a4 and the car didnt downshift to first, but he put like 3 car lengths on me, when we let off i was at his taillights.

Was bringing up my old post an attempt to put me out on front street? If so, then I must have missed something...like your point!
Uhh, when did I ever (in my post above to "CamaroFan") say the average driver would infact run 12.80's in a stock LS1, like the gifted Evan Smith did?
Dude, seriously lay off the Moonshine because your making no sense right now.
Just remember you called B.S. on that one. I just had to make you a believer.

I guarantee that once you dump all that money into the blower, supporting mods, drivetrain, suspension, etc. you will not wan't to drive that car on a daily basis. You'll have to have a beater on the side.

Same track, Same day, same conditions, same driver, he would've run about a 13.1 or so in an S197. Like I said....About 2 to 3 tenths, that's it. I don't care about all the people that run 14.s and such in these things. I don't even believe LS1's high 13's, even though people run those numbers. It's not even that they are bad drivers, it's just because on any given day, the Density Altitude is different. There's alot more variables to drag racing than I once thought. N20LT4, YOU KNOW WE ARE GOING NOWHERE on this subject, so, we agree to disagree and if you had an LS1 with similar money put into it, I'd say lets meet at the track, but...oh well.

Altitude does play a big part of times depending on where a person is.
the track i go to is 660 DA.

That would be accurate, I'm assuming, and I suprisingly agree with you. I've spent about 1700 to get to an equivelent 12 at sea level at my track. Then again, I haven't payed any labor charges yet. You may be right.

I dream of running in that altitude. Me and the fellas are going to either Kansas or Vegas to run at sea level soon.

You must be very deep in the 11's at your track then. There are plenty of modded Cobras and LSx's in the 12's here, as well as 13's and 14's too.

im a high 11 second car. my times are typical of likewise modded cars.
the labor added close to about 2k to my grand total of everything i did.
you can run 11s for a little over 1k if you go with a 150 shot of giggle gas and DRs.

Man what is it with your beef with LS1's and their owners? I think you should change your name to 'Mustangfan-Boy'.

LoL, I lovvvvvvvve Camaros and T/A's. I always have. In my little car club at work, we have LS1 owners in there as well. I've talked to HONEST LS1 owners about their cars and have driven some of them, and yes, I've driven heads and cam LS1's too. I know what the car is capable of so when someone is throwing out some bull.....I challenge it, that's all:)

I hate to challenge your best guess, since you seem to be pretty grounded, but if you're high 11's at sea level(assuming), then you'd be hard pressed to get into the 12's here. Most pullied/exhaust Terminators run 13.0-13.3's here.

And another thing is out of all the guys out there that don't need to lie, LS1 owners do it the most. I'm serious.

Yeah freakin' right! You can't expect me to believe that. What would an LS1 guy have to lie about? I mean, really though, the cars can make 350rwhp with just BOLT-ONS, over 500rwhp with H/C and still maintain decent street manners. What is their to lie about?

i under estimated how much the DA would of effected my car. i was just guessing it would slow me down by half a second or so.

i have to disagree with above. the worst offenders of "padding numbers" are import guys

That track is unbelievably brutal. When I run at sea level, i'll probably pass out, it'll be so much different. When my best friend came up here from Indiana with his 98 Camaro, he was like WTF???? I just chuckled and reminded him that he was driving a mile high and his car was starving for air. Guys up here run ALOT of juice at the track to compensate.

This is my point EXACTLY, but they do when they talk about racing or what mods they have. They usually act like they haven't done much to their car, then they race stock cars of different makes. I'm seeing alot of raggin on the new SRT 8 challenger too. When those guys start modding, I think they'll silence alot of the bullshiters.

Maybe so, but imports don't intrigue me as much as Muscle does(except Skylines and Supras), so I don't care what they're talking about most of the time.

Ford is fuggin with us. They have never had any reason to change anything since Stangs sell so much, but now that the Challenger and the New Camaro is coming out with 400+hp, I expect it to be soon, or else guys like me will go back home to GM, where my heart has been before I got the Stang. Ima still get that Camaro though. I don't want the Challenger for some reason.
