I was just wondering, i'm going to the drag strip with some friends tonight and i was thinking i might do a couple passes in my car. I've 386rwhp with my cam and other stuff and i have a stock rear end... Is this a really bad idea? I know they're weak but will it handle a couple passes at the drap strip with me launchin it?

There are no guarantees but I've seen people with more power on stock 10 bolts do fine. You just can't launch hard.

I had mine at the strip right after camming it (396rwhp) and everything held together fine.... except my clutch pedal :( But thats another issue.

r u M6 or A4. A4 is more forgiving on rear. I have 398rwhp and made quite a few passes with my 3600 stall, 3.73s and BFG DR's.

Launch at 3,000-3,500 and dont use too sticky of tires and you will be fine.
As long as your car spins launching you will be fine.

I have seen completely stock M-6 cars blow their rear out. Be carefull or at least have a trailer to get you back home.

lol i got AAA.... but anyway like five or six of us got to commerce and it was CLOSED!! for rain... and you could reach down and feel the grass and it was dry... it rained like 10am that morning and they shut it down. i was so pissed. So many people showed up and were like what the hell. A supercharged c6, a trailered 69 camaro w/ slicks and skinnies just built, a new challenger, four of my friends, a new mustang, couple cobalts. Man commerce was like ya'll need to leave.... basically they wanted to prep the track for tomorrow's big event.... I was so f_ckin mad... I'll be running it sometime soon, what a bunch of a$sholes though.

IDK, I tore my 10 bolt a new one at the track. A4 8.5" nitto 555s (non Drag Radial type) edelbrock shorties(worthless mod), EWP and underdrive pulley. I launched about 2k spun past the 60ft mark (2.3sec) and it lasted around 10 passes. Id be carefull with real tires and power.

damn well this track isn't really all that prepped on friday night either... but yeah either way i'll listen to you advice. I'd prolly only do two or three passes anyway.... (all my friends were like no you'll do more trust me haha)
but xzaero that does kinda worry me cause i'm an m6...
how'd you launch from 2k with an a4?
Thanks for the advice Mnls1

Brake and gas, but mostly it was around 15-1700 rpms, 2k it spun way to much. The track here has little to no prep most of the time also.
