My car has been running quite strong with the Harris Speed Works No2 kit. Im trying to get into the 11's (with street tires for now).

Im looking hard at torque converter upgrades and Im looking for the best and lightest TC that can do the job and hopefully give me the best bang for the buck.

With the nitrous, Im thinking I want about a 3500rpm stall. But quite frankly... Im not sure which manufacturer has the best (or better) converter for my 2002 A4 z28 application.

Also, how hard is it to tune the tranny to avoid the redline limiter with an aftermarket TC???? With the no2... Im scared to blow the motor.:bomb:

I found this link:

Any opinions?

If you have a window switch you should be fine with the spray..

yank is generally known as having the best converters.
if you have the software and know how, its not hard to tune.
it sounds to me that you need a tuner and that would be your best bet.

I sell only TSC converters for a reason

In a TC... doesnt the smaller size and the angle of the vanes play a big role in performance improvement?

Im no tranny guru.... but Im sure the stock TC is much larger than the aftermarket ones. (thus less heat but more centripetal force to rob power)

I need to know if there are choices with aftermarket TC's reguarding size vs performance vs street use. (or any other variables)

These are just general questions. I remember a while back there was a after-market turbo guy that claimed his turbos made bigger hp due to the aggressive curve of the impeller blades. I never found out if that was true.

Anyway... any more info would greatly be appreciated!:nomail:

Also I know its a dumb Q but... my tranny is a 4L60E??? (2002 LS1 A4)

We purchased a fuddle and a Yank. (this is my opinion) the fuddle was complete junk, it was a 4 cyl engine converter that was re-worked and then had tabs welded on to adapt it to the LS1 flex plate. The Yank SS4000 that we ordered was a beautiful piece of work, looked brand new all over, beautiful welds just a great piece. They both installed with the same amount of ease, both ligned up to the flex plate very well. The yank definately needed a trans cooler, the fuddle got hot much faster then the yank. I would highly recomend a trans cooler for both. After driving them both, i like the Yank hands down, now the fuddle was cheaper but for the extra cost you definately got a quality piece by yank. So my recomendation is YANK all the way.

My Fuddle was comlete garbage and only lasted about 1000 miles before the TCC started making grinding noises. Got it out of there ASAP and got a PI Vig3600. No problems since.

the precision industries Vigilante converter is hands down the best.

I hear bad things about yank. especially how they balloon. the high performance transmission shop that I know called FLT, will not warranty their trans if you put a yank converter in it.......so.....that's just my opinion. I would much rather have a B&M holeshot converter then a yank. atleast those wont balloon, and can take 650 hp. they are pretty cheap, but dont have lock up......

if you want lockup and a good conveter, look for a the pink vigilante.

Wow, so many good choices - Yank, Precision Industries, TCI, Level 10 PTS...used all of them before and everyone did their job! Only converter i've ever had issues with was a B&M.

I think Yank went out of business, unfortunate for all the people that have warentees under them

So So incorrect....they (yank) are still in business and doing very well. Check your facts before you post something like that.

I went with the Yank converter (Y3000), have had it over 7 years (vehicle not a daily driver) with no problems whatsoever. They are not inexpensive, and you get what you pay for.

If you do not have the funds to purchase now, I would save and do it right the first time, if you TC fails, it will mess up your transmission when it goes.
