Help, tranny noise on WOT

ok I will be brief. 94 LT1 Trans Am Auto

at full throttle my car will clunk *like the sound of one running over a rock and hitting the car* and it only occurs during full throttle.

checked tranny fluid, and added a quart, it looks fine, full

car has been sitting for a while so i dunno...

it was running fine yesterday no idea what is up with it...

hopefully nothing expensive and just low on fluid *god i hope so*

thinking it could be the clutch in the tranny, cant handle high revs higher performance shifting and also if i do it hard enough, i can smell a burning smell

it could be,

i put abuot 7 gallons of 87 in it today *the car is new to me*

and i put in a full tank of 91 yesterday *been driving it around a lot*

couldd be that it was knocking and retarding timing but i could feel it underneith me,

guess time will tell eh?

and it has been sitting for like a month or longer, could be old tranny mount, u joints

LT1 autos are notorious for the tranny mount, I'd look there first. I wouldn't blame the gas

If its not the mount, slip that drive shaft out and check your ujoints, it could also be some rust on the yoke hanging up, so be sure and emory cloth the rust off and lube the outside and the internal splines before reinstalling it, failing that i'd park it on an alignment rack or over an oil pit and have someone load it up with a second person underneith try and isolate where the noise is coming from. this way if its in the suspension or something goofy, the suspension is at driving height. Whats about your exhaust system? could it be hitting something when the driveline rocks?

pretty sure now its the u joints

am goign to autozone tomorrow and try and fix it
