how much hp is the hotcam spose to give you????
On a otherwise stock motor you should pick up about 15hp. Add some headers & a cut out , you should see a good 20 - 25 hp gain.

When I did the Hotcam on my car I gained 32rwhp and 21rwtqI think it put me at 373/369, then I did my cam I have now and a LS6 intake and gained another 39rwhp to put me at 412
everyone that I know that has doe the hotcam doesn't have it any more because they what to go bigger after they do it, it a great cam I think but if you think your going to do 2-3 cam swaps then fo for if, if your just wanting to do 1 then go bigger.

What cam did you put in? I'm looking to do a cam in my 2000 WS6, but not sure which one. It's a daily driver, so I can't get too radical. Any suggestions?
BTW - I got smoked by A Mustang Corba the other day and it really pissed me off, so I'm building up my bird!
Thanks.

Its called the XP Colusus cam 238/242 .605/.610 110LSA+2 @.050" I use a place in OKC called Extreme Performance (405)-721-2430 good guys talk to Robert
they can do this cam on a 113 LSA+4 and it is great in a daily driver

Berry - Those are some pretty stout numbers. When you say cam only, you mean stock LS1 intake, exhaust manifolds, cats and y?
I've been considering a 236/230 reverse split cam, but if your numbers are with stock cast iron exhaust manifolds, I might have to reconsider.
Thanks!

no the cam only refers to stock heads I have LS6 intake headers all the bolt ons
and the 412 is through a 12 bolt so if I had the stock 10 bolt in there it might be around 425 or so

Ok, thats what I thought.
Still good numbers though. I didn't realize that a 12 sucked up that kinda power. I guess we don't have much other choice if we want durability.

For a daily driver, and if emissions are a concern, go with a Thunder Racing 224-224 114-LSA. With the right supporting mods, you'll see between 415-435-RWHP.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to do the LS6 intake and a set of shorty headers (I know, I should do LTs but I got the shorties for free - JBAs :dunno: ).

Those are very good upgrades, to start. Do the little things along with it, SLP pulley, FRA etc. Choose you're camshaft wisely. Pick one that suits you're driving habits, not of those who embellish that they got this, and got that (horsepower wise). Remember, true power is found in the heads (you don't need that big of a cam)....
Good luck!

a 224/224 581/581 with a 114 lsa would fit the bill as a great dd cam.

This cam would be decent. (http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=166&catid=44)
As well as the 99-TR224/227-114 (down the page a bit) (http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog/?action=vshop&vid=3&pcid=51)
There is also the 224"/224" .588"/.588" 114LSA from Futral (second one down on this link) (http://www.futralmotorsports.com/fms_partsgroup.asp?pf=1&pg=5)
And my favorite (thanks to the shipping being included, COMP doesn't like the specs given out, so research is needed) (http://byunspeed.com/index.php?cPath=22_26_642&osCsid=fe33e34b6f321ffe2e9c90d9e4c0b8b5)

the 224/224 is the most popular cam out there.
comp cams and other companys make that grind, its not custom at all.
above cam and tune netted me 39 rwhp.

My car gained 41 RWHP with the cam I put in it.
Lunati 226/234 554/575 112lsa.
Not huge, but not small.
Before cam VS. after cam (pic) (http://home.comcast.net/~mrluos/Graph1.JPG)
That was cam over bolt-ons. Nothing changed but the cam, valvesprings, and pushrods. The lower graph shown had a bent pushrod.
Stock throttle body, stock pulley, LS6 intake, all other bolt-ons.
For the video it was open headers....but it sounded pretty good through the Loudmouth at idle as well.
I ditched the Loudmouth because of the sound though. It was horrible after I installed the cam.
OH YEAH!!! Stock tune for both dyno's.
