replacing those things they call subs on the monsoon

can i replace those subs in the back on the side where the rear seats are?
i dont want to put the stock ones back in i want something aftermarket if it is possible

Just get ya some 6.5in woofers, I just disconnected mine since I have a sub anyways

4ohm 6-3/4" (also called oversized 6-1/2") speakers will work too but you won't be getting all the power possible from the amp. Then again the amp is of such poor quality anyway I doubt that it would make much difference. Of course theres the risk of blowing the new speakers as well since the electronics in front of them are so poor.

BTW, Make sure you have enough mounting depth for the speakers you choose.

actually I replaced my "subs" with those and it made a huge difference. A lot clearer and they seem very high quality. I really thumped them a few times and didn't seem to take anything out of them at all.

I actually got a really good deal on mine. My friend installed them on his regular trans am and had them in for a week and wrecked it. He was letting it go back to the bank and called me up and said, "Hey I'll let you transfer any parts off of my car to yours for $200." so I said hell yeah. I got the speakers , t-tops ( mine were scratched ) , some random interior pieces that were in better condition then mine , SLP lids , K&N filter , and front lisence plate cover. Not to bad if you ask me.

I'm sure that didn't answer your question though. I'm not quite sure where you could pick some up. Good luck though.

ok, i went out and got some speakers
they fit and everything but i dont know how to install them
the new ones only have 2 wires but the old ones have 4
anybody done this before?

Use one set or the other. Just make sure that both speakers are hooked up in phase with each other. If they are out of phase you will get cancelation which will result in weak bass performance. Look at the stock speakers where the connectors are. The wires should be labeled A & B. The wire going to the B connection is + and the wire going to the A connection is -. When you're done and you think the bass sounds kind of weak just reverse the wires to 1 of the speakers to get it in phase with the other speaker.

Just remember that the factory speakers are subwoofers so there will be no highs coming from your new speakers.

there is a clip/fuse that attches the stock speaker to the rest of the wiring
when i disconnect the clip/fuse, i can remove the speaker
then there is half of the clip/fuse that attatches to the speaker clip/fuse
there are only 2 open wires with the new speakers
the place that i am supposed to connect the new speakers has has 4 wires that are attatched to the clip/fuse
what do i do with the 4 wires (they are all different colors)
help!

i tried reversing the wires to get them in phase with eachother but no difference

The stock speakers are Dual Voice Coil 4ohms, meaning they run at 2ohm when wired up properly like you saw the stock speaker. To get your setup to work you'll have to run it at 4ohm by bridging the connection of one positive and one negative off the two sets and run the remaining ends to the speaker and do a phase check with a cd to make sure they're hooked up correctly.
