Now that I am in the LS1 club..... I know I will need an excellent radar detector. Who produces the best detection unit. Let me know what type you have and how you would rate the detection capabilities.

Valentine 1 - flat out best there is & you know where the radar signal is coming from, front rear or sides. Mine cost $400 over 5 years ago, but it's worth every penny. I highly recommend getting the Concealed Display so you won't have the lights & display on the unit visible to the whole world. The best isn't inexpensive....but what's a ticket & points on your license (or no ticket & points) worth to you? I had an Escort and then a Passport - trust me, in the real world they're not even in the same league as the Valentine 1.

Ok... I guess I'm a V1 leg humper too. Been using mine for over six years and no tickets. Although, I could have had plenty had it not been for my V1. I gotta get another one for my truck (I'm getting tired of swapping back and forth).

Man I really shoulda gotten one of these bad boys earlier, 7 points on my licence :( . This and subframe connecters are gonna be first thing this spring for sure. Now I have a question though. These things are illegal in Canada, and Ive never had one so what Im wondering is if it has to sit on the dashboard ? Because it would be alot better for me to keep it hidden.
Also if you TA guys could share where you keep yours to give me some ideas.
Thanks

I keep mine at the top of my windshield just to the left of my mirror. It's hardwired so there's no dangling wires. The tint strip at the top keeps it pretty well hidden.
V1s are also VG2 stealth (unable to be seen by radar detector detectors). Well, that's not entirely true. They can be seen at three feet distance. But... if your V1 gets detected, you've got a whole lot more troubles than getting a radar ticket.
I live VA where radar detectors are illegal. I drive by troopers all the time (even had one walk up to my car once) and they never knew it had it.

How do the sensors work ?? Isnt there like a front and back sensor that has to be installed? And how easy is it to unplug and hide this thing in case of being pulled over ?

sensors are at the front and back of the unit so when it is on your windshield it goes to the front and though the rear window, disconnect at the cig lighter quick connect and heave out the window, fastest way.

Is a radar jammer better than a detector? It sounds like a jammer would be better...it actually scrambles the return radar signal to the gun. Here's a link to one I just googled...pricing isn't bad on some of them....anyone know if they work?

Well word on the street is that jammers dont work very well, and theyre major illegal so if you do get caught with it, which you are likely too then your screwed.

I've had my Valentine 1 since 1999 when I got my T/A. Flat out, it's the best there is in my opinion. That thing cost me $400 and paid for itself in the first 6 months. Man I could tell you guys some stories where the V1 saved my a$$. If your gonna drive fast...get a V1.
