A4 with 3.73's. I get ~ 14 mpg/city but I get ~25 mpg/hiway if I stay under 75 mph (about 2800 rpm). Much beyond that and it drinks gas like a drunken sailor consumes alcohol when he's on shore leave.

You won't lose that much:

2.73 at 76 = 1900
3.42 at 73 = 2300

Hey post your results when you do this, I want to know how you make out. I have 2.73's and want to do the same thing, but like you I'm concerned about the mileage.

Are you asking about city mileage or freeway mileage?
I went from A4 3.23:1 to A4 4.56:1.
Around town MPG decreased as it's 'more fun' now.
Freeway MPG didn't drop as much as I was expecting.
With the 3.23s' on 8 trips to Florida from Ohio,I would get 24.5 flowing with traffic,25.5 observing the speed limits, and 26.5 driving purposely 5 MPH under the limits(as a test).
With the 4.56s' on a trip to Florida, yeah I went from Ohio to Florida to Ohio with 4.56s',I got 21.5 flowing with traffic(cruise control at 3100 RPM) and 21.9 observing the speed limits.MPG,based on mechanical change should have been in the 17-18 range.

Hell , thats simple . Just figure on between 2~3 MPG less .
Now , is that gonna be worth 2 or 3 lengths in the Qtr. mile ?
