Tried to install my new EU-700's in the sail panel and the back end hits when they have out 1/2" more to go in before they are flush with the mounting surface....how do I fix it?

I think the only option you have is to use a ring underneath the speaker when you mount it. Then of course you may run into clearance problems at the front of the speaker. Your other option would be to replace them with speakers that fit properly.

is it possible to cut out the section behind it that is holding it out, or even to bend it back a little. Its not the outside skin of the car, but I don't really know what purpose it serves.

did you get the dual 4ohm voice coil ones? I had no trouble fitting those at all

Yes I got the dual 4 ohm, they are too deep though. I used some 3/8"mdf and made a ring to go around them, they fit great with no front clearence issues.

Mad, can you take a picture of your set up? did you use a buffer ring or anything? I'm so afraid when i get mine i'll have issues.

I made it. Medium Density fiberboard. Just make a cardboard template then cut it outwith a jigsaw, or bandsaw.....drill your holes and thats it.
I had to use 1/2" on one side and it fit ok too ....but I had to cut the bottom tab off the cover piece.

hey, once you have had them in for a while-can you give me a write up? i'm so in fear of one more fucking thing buzzing in my car and with them being so thick, i anticipate the stock grill to rattle.

will do....one thing i have noticed is that mdf sucks. Use regular plywood instead...it won't become brittle and crack.
