Car came stock with 3.42s...would 3.73s be worth it, really? If so, how much am i looking for installation and all, and readjusting the speedo.

Not worth upgrading from 42s to 73s.

Not really worth it if that's all your doing. Stall if your an A4 would be cash better spent I would think. I did both, and a few other things. But at the time I had some liquid money for mod's. Ring and Pinion (may I suggest Motive) with install kit was about 290.00. Synthetic gear lube was 22.00. Install charge and shim kit was 200.00....500.00 bucks can get you a decent stall and if you can swap it yourself, so much the better. Gas mileage will suffer a little. And be prepared for a little rear-end noise, mine's quiet enough but I hear some others aren't so lucky. Not that I can hear much over my exhaust and stereo, or worse all that and the tops off. Not sure how much having your pcm reset will cost as I had mine done, then had it dyno tuned. Tom Wong @ Wong's Performance did a GREAT job for any portland/vancouver guys that may read this. Also some SOTP performance gains can be had simply by upping the shift pressures and shift points. Hope some of my rambling was helpful

A Stall is a Stall speed torque convertor. I suggest the search function to fully understand it's function. And umm, I didn't see the 3.8 option. Not sure it's worth the cost vs Performance gains on a stock V6, Turbo'd... That's a different issue. Actually, I would have to say I agree with Y2k. Not worth the cost.
