View Full Version : Started Rebuilding The LT1

Finally took the first steps in converting my car to a V8. Started off with an LT1 out of a 93 Z28.

This is what it looks like after tearing it down (Taking many pictures along the way.. just in case) boiling it, and then painting it red to keep the rust away for now.

This Tuesday the 383 stroker install will begin. I'm having Bill's performance, in Gladstone MO, bore it .030 over and machine the block for crank clearance. Havn't decided what cam I am going to go with yet, but probably will decide next week. It is a good thing I got a good deal on this motor.. because after tearing it down I found that it had obvously been run low on oil at some point. I know this thing was knocking before the guy pulled it out. The cam has some really bad wear and there were a few spun bearings. This picture shows one of the 3 torn up lobes on the cam.
