m6 go 4.11 I went 31 spline should be pletty. but if your the parinoid type you could get what is it a 40? the higher spline you go the stronger it is but you can't have posi with anything over 31

I went with a TruTrac diff. 31 spline axles.
Plan on launching on the bottle?? Might want to go locker with 33 or larger splined axles.

i thought the SD60 was the baddest rear out there? and no i will not launch off the bottle..hopefully i can make enough tq down low i wont need to...and the car will be driven on the street too ..so that eliminates the spool
Mr. Luos
06-09-2008, 01:23 PM
Not a fan of the torque arm mounts on the Dana or the 12 bolt.
If you are launching off the bottle...TruTrac with 31 spline axles.
QtrWhore
06-09-2008, 01:29 PM
well so far i am gathering that this would be the best rear...
M9 /with TruTrac/ with 31 spline axles/ 4:10 gears is that gorilla proof?
Z28collection
06-09-2008, 01:38 PM
definitley 9 inch with an M6 and a 12 bolt or a 60 for an A4.
rapter34
06-09-2008, 01:38 PM
pretty much for a mostly street car. and it would be 4.11's :) no big differance but that what the 9" has.
QtrWhore
06-09-2008, 02:49 PM
do the M9's come with 3:90 gears? would like to keep some streetabilty right? i am not building a track only warrior here..

The M9 is a different housing than a 9".
I have a car I consider to be mostly street...and I have 4.11's. 75MPH is 2,000RPM in 6th gear.
QtrWhore
06-09-2008, 03:23 PM
yea i was hoping to keep 85 mph and about 1500 rpms...thats why i got a 6 spd car...maby when i get tick performance to rebuild it they can do something w/ the gearing? w/ the price of gas and the dreams of a power tour........

With 3.42's (stock) you are spinning 1850RPM at 85MPH.
With 3.73's you are spinning 2050RPM at 85MPH.
With 4.11's you are spinning 2250RPM at 85MPH.

will that rear end i listed above hold the hp/tq i am looking to make all motor and then on the juice as well? and what brand of gears would you all recommend?
Mr. Luos
06-10-2008, 10:48 AM
Do NOT rebuild a 10 bolt.
Moser 9"
It is a complete bolt in rear end.

I thought there were problems with the Moser torque arm bolts? Or is that just on the 12 bolt?

06-10-2008, 12:30 PM
the new m9's look really nice and i guess their t/a are pretty sweet...look into the m9 or ford 9"
QtrWhore
06-11-2008, 02:42 AM
first off..no damn ford parts for my bird..lol...and i have already bulletproofed my damn 10 bolt for the last time..forged axles, girdle, gears, centerchunk...thats why i am shoppin for a different rear now
shady milkman
06-11-2008, 07:02 AM
fair enough...get the m9 then..based off the ford 9" but isnt considered a ford 9"

Most bullet proof rear imo is the Moser 9 with Detriot Locker.

yes it will but you have to decide if you still want posi or a locker. Lockers are stronger but less streetable. not sure how much the trutrac posi can take but im sure its quite a bit. Mr.Lous is running it.
QtrWhore
06-12-2008, 08:11 AM
i think that true trac diff is going to be my best bet as the car will be driven on the street weather permitting...heard a lot of negative stuff about lockers on the street...

Burkhart chassis is the best

I went with the Strange Dana s60, easier step.. just install and drive.

Not bad.
I would spend the extra $100 for the Moser 9" though. As solid as the casing is on the D60...the 9" is stronger. Neither will have issues breaking, my concern is the torque arm mounts. The 9" will NOT bend/bow while doing stupid shit like donuts.
D60 shouldn't either, but the way the TA mounts...it could.

But I went 2 channel TruTrac. $2400 to my door.
The only thing I wish I would have added would be the drain and fill plugs.

yea and have you seen the price on a M9 compared to a SD60? i should be able to swing the $2300 shipped for the sd60..but an M9 is friggin spensive..with the aluminum center chunk and other little stuff...hell i might just put up a sponsor only post and have em post up their best prices on the M9, SD60 and see who has got the deal goin on...

Hey guys when you purchase the m9 it has 4channel abs with or without reluctor rings. I heard you can reuse your reluctor rings what are they and do they have to be pressed out or something.

don't forget with the dana S60 you will need a shorter drive shaft so you are better off ordering thier chromoly one from them while you are at it...
