I have a nitrous-powered low 11-second '93 Z28 w/ a 700-R4 ('92-93 4L60). I have had A4's break on me before, but never like this. I was driving home tonight when I ran across a few guys I knew and pulled over to chat. I thought i'd show my ass a little bit :sillyme: by giving them a good burnout before I left. Before I smoked 'em, I had my car in Neutral as I normally do when I am either sitting @ a stop light or chatting with somebody. I attempted to power-brake the car to find out it was in the 'N' position, then put it in the proper 1st gear slot, but before I put it in gear the rev's hadn't come all the way down. I'd say the motor was probably at 2200-2300rpm when I began roasting the tires, which I think is enough to do some damage. Basically what I am trying to say is I neutral dropped it by Accident. Soon after this, the tranny started acting funny.

The symptoms are:
It hesitates to shift, but does infact shift from first through fourth - but, like I said with hesitation. It does NOT slip, though it shifts into gear pretty harshly.
The most noticeable symptom is when I have it in park or neutral, and put it into gear (Overdrive), it yanks really hard like I am on the throttle even though my foot is not touching the gas pedal. It will do that over and over again.

Could it be that I have done the inevitable...and caused damage to my output shaft with the neutral drop? I checked the fluid and it's @ perfect level. What could it be guys...?

Its very hard to say but does sound like you may have done some internal damage I imagine to the lugs in the case where the low roller clutch sets possibly more. N DROP VERY BAD

Yeah it was a stupid accident on my part. I guess that's what I get for having a few too many. Oh well, time for a new tranny.

I am strongly considering going with a T-56 swap, since I now have a legimate reason for one. If I do decide to stay A4 I will strongly consider a transmission from you guys since I hear nothing but good things about you!

+1

Go with the swap, i am haha. Im only doing so because my trans has been acting up and i can actually do this swap cheaper than what it would be to get a new built trans and stall. Plus i do a lot more street driving than track.
