2002 SS stock throttle body on 98 T/A

Quick question: Will a ported stock throttle body from a 2002 SS fit on a 1998 Trans Am without modification?

No, I don't think so.

They changed the linkage in '00 to give slightly slower throttle response, I believe the cable will be the wrong length on the 98.

EDIT: here it is from the model year FAQ: "Throttle body cam was increased in size to slow the speed at which the car reaches WOT"
