Just started last night. It's a clunking sound that you can hear when you stop (clu-clunk) and when going around a turn (clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk). Going around in a circle on the cul-de-sac you can hear it pretty well. Also, if you open the hood and rock the car up and down you can hear it exactly the same as when you stop, just not as loud, and you can't really pinpoint it.

I just had my M6 rebuilt. I reinstalled the transmission last night. The transmission works fine. The noise seems to be coming from forward of the tranny anyway.

The strut tower nuts are tight. I checked them this morning.

Any ideas?

I guess I'll put it back up on the ramps and poke around on it tonight.

Thanks for all your input guys.

I fixed it.

The transmission mount wasn't tighted onto the transmission. Replaced it with a poly mount tonight. Love the poly mount. I like feeling what the drivetrain is doing. I'm thinking of solid or poly engine mounts.

solid engine mounts can trip off the knock sensors. do poly instead.
