View Full Version : Axle Sleeve failing?

Got an oil change done on the Formula the other day and the mechanic calls me over to the lift and points out how the entire rear end is covered with leaking differential fluid from a bad axle sleeve.

The manager is a pretty good guy (so far) and said he'd research parts/procedure for fixing it. Are there any TSB's on this part?

Has anyone had this part fail on them? How much can I expect to pay to have it fixed?

I need to get this fixed before it ruins the rear end and costs big $$.

nope no TSBs as it is a wearable item and it's not the crush sleeve its the pinion seal. Easy to do if you are carefull.

Thanks for the info.

Not much for working on the car though.

any competant shop should be able to do one in an hour or so.

BTW its appears most of our f-bodies have a pinion seal leak or light seapage. Don't be surprised if it leaks again soon after the repair.
