I am considering about painting my magnaflow cat back black and then leaving the tips chrome. I think it would look better the only problem is that i do not want to ruin the stainless exhaust with paint that wont come off if i change my mind. Any comments, suggestions, opinions.
I guess i should try to find some car pics with hooker exhaust and the big chrome cannon tips.

I have a pic below of it prior to installation and with it installed. The tips were powdercoated, not painted, but they match pretty well in color. I like it, just be sure to use high temp paint.

I painted my Hooker CB with black high temp spray. Aerochamber muffler was black from factory. I painted the tubes all the way back to the chrome extensions and think it looks pretty nice. Got around 5K on the system and no ill effects (paint).

I never did a cat back yet, but I've fabed up several motorcycle exhausts and used 1400° black barbeque paint from the auto parts stores and it worked great. 2-3 coats, just burnt off the 1st couple of inches out of the heads after awhile and you won't be getting near that much heat in the cat back.
if you want to get it back of just use acetone on a rag but be sure to use gloves!

this is as close to a picture as I have. It's scattered throughout the garage. :D

I painted my ory pipe with black high temp paint because it's not stainless. my magnaflow cb is stainless so i dont see a point in painting it.
