LS6 intake changeover question

OK , I am going to be swapping out my Ls1 intake this weekend on my T/A for the Ls6 intake I got, My question is this, I have heard about some special cooling lines that can be used or some guys have grinded something to make the Ls1 lines work, What EXACTLY did you have to modify to make it work. Is there anything else I should know about , are there going to be any weird surprises or is it a similiar swap to the 6 intake. Thanks for your help

they are talking about grinding to ribs off the bottom of the intake to let the coolant lines run underneath. other wise you can get the coolant lines for the LS6 intake at a GM dealer the choice is yours. have you looked at ls1howto.com? pretty straight forward install. tricks get a small piece of hose to get the rear intake bolts up so you can slide it out and you can leave the fuel rail complete just pull the injectors out of the inatke and set to the side with the fuel hose still connected. the install took me like 2-3 hours the first time but im picky and made sure it was very clean

Grind these ribs off and it will fit perfectly...a chisel and a hammer work just fine.

You can buy a Coolant Kit on EBay for $50 or less and not do the grinding thing (I used the kit). No fuss, time, butt ugly (IMO) grinding. After buying the new manifold I didn't feel comfortable modding a new part.

I used the ls6 pipe and plugs. There are 2 small plugs that go into the rear of the heads then a single pipe that goes across the front of the heads.
What I did was use a couple pieces of masking tape to hold the rear bolts up. I would lift the bolts up and wrap a piece of tape around them. That keeps them from dropping back down and snagging on things on the way out.

You can get the coolant lines from your dealer. I don't have the part number but my guy was able to look them up for me.

GM could have made the ribs go away, I think they changed it because its better so I chose to do what GM did and change the coolant lines.
