so my mom tore up my 3.23's and I am redoing my whole differential and putting 3.73's in it. how will that feel? is it going to just be crazy power that won't get traction or what? I run in the 1/8th so I think that the 3.73's won't run out of gear. should I expect to ever even move without dr's?

I love my 373's. Traction, however, well I'm afraid to put dr's on because I know I will blow my rear end up, so street tires are what I run. I dont floor it under 30 mph, but otherwise I'm not afriad to. 1/8 mile you will not run out of gearing.

Haha I love flooring it under 30, kicking the rear out is fun :zoom:
but yeah for my car at least, traction is a big issue, I cant floor it in first gear or else I pretty much sit and spin, but Im sure my stall has something to do with that too.
There isn't alot of difference between 3.23s and 3.73s. Get yourself some Micky Thompson Drag radials and you'll hookup and get gone.

While maybe not a lot, there is a difference between 3.23's and 3.73's. I gained a little over a tenth by making the switch, and a gain is a gain. With good tires, 3.73's are always better than stock gearing.

cool. I can't wait to drive it. can't wait to drive it at the drag strip. that'll be fun. I didn't think I would run out of gearing even in the 1/4

Do you have tires?

As a general rule Auto Tranny cars run 3.73s and manual Trannys run the 4.11s. And you don't run out of gearing unless you hit it with the NOS. Tire height also comes into play, but you will be fine.

donuts. she tore up the differential and chipped up the gears so I am going ahead and changing to 3.73's and a stronger differential (built eaton).
but the whole story was my mom took my car for a couple days while i didn't have my driver's license and she took my little brother and his friend somewhere and my little brother and his friend convinced my mom to stop in a church parking lot and do burnouts. then she started to doing donuts. evidently she stopped when it started not wanting to do donuts anymore. opened my differential case that night when she said the car was driving weird and she told me what it wasdoing and that diffferential looked horrible. I got my uncle to look at it (only other car person in the family, he knows way more than me) and he said when he saw it "holy shit that thing is fucked"

Aint bad. I know I need a rear end horribly. I plan on doing the axles and everything.
