So I just got finished racing my roomates Mustang and now it seems like I have to put way to much effort to get it over and then into reverse. I have to use my left hand and put some weight in it to get it all the way over to the right. I'm stumped on the problem and it's kinda annoying.

Reverse lockout solenoid??? located on the driver side tail of the tranny, if I am not mistaken. *fingers crossed* that its something as easy and cheap as that.

I have found that if I go into 3rd gear first the shifter goes into reverse alot smoother.

If it's still acting up check the ENG SEN fuse.

The problem has fixed itself. However when it was a problem i didn't have trouble getting it in reverse (no gear clash) so i knew it wasnt internal. My guess is with Tace02 maybe a connection was bad or something.
As for Ryan99. The reason that is is that all foward gears are helical cut and its a lot easier for them to interlock with eachother. Where as the reverse gears are spur cut and they only interlock when lined up perfectly. So by putting it in one of the foward gears lines all the gears up allowing to c/s reverse to interlock with the reverse idler and then connecting to the m/s reverse.
