I have a 2000 Trans Am 6 speed and when im driving around town or in car cruises the shifter gets very hot. i removed the light bulb under the ash tray but it still gets hot. Is this normal or is there something wrong.

I noticed mine getting hot when i put in the Pro 5.0 shifter and Lou's short stick and what i think is that its because the stock shifter is a piece of stamped metal for the base, whereas the new one is a block of solid aluminum. More surface area=more heat transfer.

also aluminum is a just a giant heat sink. Heat and cold travel through aluminums densisty with ease.

if your fluid level is fine in your trans then you should be fine. or change it anyways depending on how many miles you have!
