What ls1?

Question... I am new to group and considering ls1 for a 1978 vett that needs some love. Considering a complete swap from a late model veh. What years should I avoid and what parts do I absolutelly need? Looking into 2000 and up vett with trans... any suggestions
(Also emissions are a consideration since I live in California)

any year ls1 is fine. there are some problems tuning 98 models but 99-up are pretty much the same. newer vettes dont use a traditional trans. they use a transaxle settup in the rear. you will be better off getting one from an f-body or GTO. you will need ECM,wiring harness and fuel pump
