OK I have a 2002 WS6 with full bolt ons and 3.73 gears. I was thinking of putting a high stall convertor with shift kit and cooler. How hard is it to install all of this? Does the car need to be tuned after the install? How much would this shave off the quarter? What shift kit, Trans go? I was thinking about a 3000 stall but what brand? And what cooler? I still need it streetable.

Stalls usually knock about .5 off your ETs. Best mod for an auto there is.

You can go up to 3500 stall and still be perfectly streetable. 3000 may not be big enough. If you plan to cam your car at some point, you want to pair up the stall and cam.

If you are a DIY type, the labor is not really that hard, a day project. The cooler is very simple, the convertor isn't hard, but can be a PIA. Never done a shift kit myself.

Trans Go is probably the best shift kit out there and you can pick up a cooler at your local parts store(thats what I did) or pick up a B&M cooler which is a very popular one as well.

Tuning is highly recommended for a stall as well.

as of right now i plan on keeping the motor stock until the swap. I was going to do head and cam package but got a bike instead. Will I be able to drive the car to the shop to get it tuned?

Yes, it will run ok, shift points just need to be adjusted.

I just put a 3000 stall in my car and kind of wish that I would have gone bigger. With a 3000 it drives basically the same as when it was stock.

I have the transgo hd2 shift kit and it really was not that hard to install as long as you take your time, are careful, and follow the instructions.

If you plan on doing everything yourself I would say you should probably put aside at least 2 days to do it. Drop the tranny and do the shift kit on day one, you should also do the corvette servo, and then put it back togather with the new torque converter on day 2.

for a mid range cam like a 224 or 228, 3000-3500 rpm stall is perfect.
bigger cams, 3500-4000 rpm.

i have a 00 trans am..i gotta guy who is really good with installing performance stuff on anything and he really didnt want to mess the shift kit..they are pretty detailed and would def take at least a day, but i went with a B&M trans cooler too and it was easy to do. I have a 3.73 gear to put in, how difficult is that?? i hear its tough

i had someone put the gears in. i didnt know how to do them so i someone else do it. i want to do the stall and shift kit to save on labor.
