My STOCK SS vs. Termi :) not impressed

so, i was outta town meetin some girls, and me, my friend and the 2 girls were drivin around in a busy area. i saw plenty of vettes, etc... but all were old guys. finally, a blue cobra is in front of me in traffic. its a 4 lane road, so i work my way up to him, and he notices. gives me a nod, and im like "well i dont hear a supercharger, so i could take him" then, he goes nuts and WOT to change lanes. all i hear is a looooouuuuddd ass whine... im just like "awwwwwwe shit" and i actually had a little tingle in my spine cuz i havent seen a termi in my car yet, and ive been really anxious to see what one could do to me.

so, i might have been the luckiest person in the world when i saw a yellow light... and i end up next to him in traffic. he coulda made it thru the light but he knew ;)

there was another light about 1/8 mile up the road with cars stopped so there wasnt much room ahead of us, but he kept creepin up as the lights about to turn green... light turns green and i give him a sec to see if hes actually gonna go, and i launch at like 2k and hook real perfectly. now, u may or may not believe this, but even tho he launched before me, i pulled on him. we ended up dead fuckin even at about 55mph, when we had to brake. i was thoroughly impressed with my car, and felt bad for him lol. i know he was goin for it cuz i could hear him goin WOT and the blower was loud as shit. i could also tell he didnt miss any shifts, soooo dont tell me he did

you've got either 2.73's or 3.23's. M6 had 3.42's.

probably 4.56s, but in OD while you are cruising down the highway you'd be pulling 3000+rpms and it would be very noticeable. What is your rpms in 3rd gear(D) at 60?? What size of rear tires do you have? Tell me these and we can figure your gear ratio out preety quickly.

Good kill. 0-60 is where it's at on the street at least around here where there's not alot of open road. Stop light racing is quick and dirty and usually over before anyone even notices. It's the best way to race if you ask me. Get him out the hole, playing catch up is never fun even when you know your car is faster.

Also, Iv'e seen those Cobra's run low 12's bone stock at the track (I remember watching them run when they were new). Iv'e also seen them run low 14's and mid 13's trapping over 116MPH in the 1/4. Sometimes, it's a drivers race. Chaulk it up, you got to hang with one on the street.

i have 4.10's in my 99 z71 in od it only turns about 1600-1700 rpms at 55-60. but in my 91 3/4 ton i had 4.10's and it turned at about 2200 rpms at 55-60. maybe it had something to do with the 700r4 that was different than the 4l60 e but i thought they were almost identical tranny's. i've always wondered.:dunno:

i have an a4 98 T/a... when i was stock i beat numerous six speeds.. of all different years from 98-02... some by a nose... some by 2-3 lengths.. only lost to one.. it was a good friend.. and only lost to him once, it was by a nose and i was catching back up, i had traction issues.. in all i raced probably 15 six speed ls1s, a mixture of racing at the track, on the street from a dig and from low and high rolls.. so it wasnt driver error in every single one.. some maybe.. but not all..

Lol what did you run in the quarter mile, thats the only way to really tell whats faster. My 6 speed could run 12.8s with headers exhaust and a intake, and i never ran it after the tune but i could tell the car was way more alive, so atleast 12.6s-12.7s. On street tires

i have an a4 98 T/a... when i was stock i beat numerous six speeds.. of all different years from 98-02... some by a nose... some by 2-3 lengths.. only lost to one.. it was a good friend.. and only lost to him once, it was by a nose and i was catching back up, i had traction issues.. in all i raced probably 15 six speed ls1s, a mixture of racing at the track, on the street from a dig and from low and high rolls.. so it wasnt driver error in every single one.. some maybe.. but not all..

Second gear scratchs car does run pretty hard if memory serves me correctly, as for what you say there are alot of things to factor in, chances are heres what happened the cobra wasnt in the right gear when the race happended. I have seen a bone stock auto ls1 run a 13.23 before, thats faster than i have seen alot of kids get there m6s to go even with bolt ons. Generally is a m6 faster if the driver can drive it, yes but some autos will suprise you.

Sorry to tell you, but I know of not one peron who's LS1 auto is still STOCK. My brothers '98 A4 produces over 700-rear-wheel, and everyone else is...well...NOT STOCK.

Why are we getting into the A4 to M6 it has been beaten to death. I bought my 6 speed because I feel a manual is more fun to drive but that is just an opinion. Some people find autos are fun too. Autos are more consistant but the M6 has the advantage from a roll, that is if they are modded the same or stock. Both have advantages, both have disadvantages. Its pretty much up to the person and what they want. We should all be happy we own LS1's. And to you AT, nice run for what it was.

probably 4.56s, but in OD while you are cruising down the highway you'd be pulling 3000+rpms and it would be very noticeable. What is your rpms in 3rd gear(D) at 60?? What size of rear tires do you have? Tell me these and we can figure your gear ratio out preety quickly.

Stay up on your maintenance and it should keep running that way. I seafoamed, cleaned maf/throttle body/intake manifold, and did an engine flush on mine recently, and that makes me feel better knowing mine is running in tip top shape...(waiting for my chance with an 03-04 cobra too:flex:)

I beat a heads/cam4.6(94-98) it was a close race. then I raced a heads/cam/Procharged 94-98 body style cobra, I beat him off the line and he ended up passing me during 2nd and put a car on me at the end of the 1/8th. Makes me feel good because my engine is still stock! 03-04 Cobra, I hope he know's how to drive his car, because I'll give him hell!

BTW, I hear those pullied cobras really wake up with that pulley but if that's all he has who knows?

pulleys give huuuuuuge hp gains in any supercharged car. a stock gtp that i know of picked up ~70 hp with no tune or anything, just a new pully

you wont pick up 70hp with a pulley with a gtp.. if your talking the 02 models.. trust me.. you wont break 300 hp by going pulley echaust and bolt ons.....
