I just installed a ZEX bottle heater. It won't get the pressure in my 10 LB NOS bottle above 700. It's about 40 degree's here now, and I figured warming a 40 degree bottle would be no problem. I can feel the bottle heater get hot, but pressure just won't climb over 700.

I bought the bottle heater used, and didn't get any instructions. I am using some pretty thin wire to power it because that is what I had laying around. If the bottle hetaer is getting warm, does that mean my wiring is adequate, or could that still be the culprit?

After about an hour, the pressure still won't breach 700.

Thought's?

check your wiring and see if it's overheating, if it is then you need bigger wiring andmake sure the heater is tight around the bottle

How much does your bottle weigh? If it's low you won't be able to get the pressure up.

The wires themselves don't feel warm at any point during the heater's operation.

The heater comes on almost instantly, and within a few seconds is bordering on too hot to touch. After a few minutes though, it's just luke warm.

I am using a 10 lb NOS bottle with a full 10 lbs of nitrous in it.

How long does your ZEX heater take to warm the bottle?

If your bottle is full it shouldn't take long. No more then 15 minutes. What gauge wire did you use from the battery to the relay?

16 Gauge.

I called ZEX (Comp Cams) and they said they'd check it out and repair it for me for free if there was a problem.

The guy on the phone said the thermostat is most likely bad because it heats up to the proper temperature (almost too hot to touch), then cools to luke warm.

I am gonna send it off and see what they say.

You might want to try a different heater, the cheaper lower wattage 220/240 watt heaters take alot longer, the Cold Fusion Bottle heaters are 300 Watts and work much quicker.
