Does it really benefit the car to have the oil valve filter in place of the stock cap that just seals it?...or is it just more for vanity than practicality? :dunno:

Works great on drag cars.
Catch can is better for street cars.

It is a way to relieve pressure built up in the crankcase.
You have a system already intact to do that. But the system isn't that great in the higher RPM's. It is a PCV valve system.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation
Most people (myself included) with street cars run an inline oil catch can to help with the oil that sometimes makes it past the valve.

It goes into your intake through the throttle body. After emptying out my catch can for the first time after it has been installed I highly recommend that everyone use one.

Found this on google... im planning on getting one soon... Ive got an edlebrock breather cap as well.. seems like it prevents that milky buildup that the cap had.. oil looks thinner as well(not burnt)

Seems like with the breather it would help some...the breather would allow fresh air to enter the crankcase and make a loop. where as the cap would just circulate the same air around in the engine... instead of drawing new air in.. my .02

i thought i read somewhere that if you have the stock PCV system in place that you shouldnt use a crankcase breather due to suction issues?? Anyone????

One or the other.
Breather (track car)
PCV and can (street car)

Theoritically yes... it prevents less oil from entering etc etc...

I bought mine from Thunder Racing, comes with almost everything you need (I needed one bolt to attach it to the head). I did decide to use some copper tubing to make one bend a little easier. Otherwise spent about 15 minutes to install 10 of which was me going to a store to buy a bolt for the bracket.
