A new BMW 335 is turbocharged. With a good tune they are a 12 second car. Stock, or cars with few mods probably would have some problems handling one of them.

I'd be willing to bet your LS1 has issues. I've been there before when I thought my car was slow, and come to find out I was running on less than 8 cylinders the whole time. My suggestion is to have your motor checked out by a technician that has know how on the LS1, and find the problem(s).

The only other thing I could think of is those guys flat out lied to you. Both cars had much - much more done to them than you were informed. Gotta know what your going up against ;)

Oh ya...I'd bet the problem with the car is located just aft of the steering wheel. It's the kind of problem that takes only a little experience and time to fix.

go look at your heads..they will say 241 and they will not be perimeter head bolt..a little better flowing..(or so they say)...go take a picture of it if u have a camera and post it up so that for the people who dont know can see a difference

The 806 casting heads on your LS1 are indeed factory. The issue is that your motor might have a lower compression ratio (around 9.6:1) than normal depending on the factory head gasket thickness, which in some cases were changed from year to year. Our cars aren't untouchable and a little knowledge goes along way. you need experiance and to listen to the car. Are you getting wheel spin? They won't always scream and squak if they are. What were road conditions? What where your RPMS doing comparied to acelleration?

I'll fill you in on somthing I have beent he pround owner of a 02 WS6 M6 for the last three years with a few runs under my belt. Last summer I ran a Cobalt SS and G35 both were close from a combo of bad driving on my part and lack of traction from cheap tires that I have plus a slightly sandy road surface. I actually had to peddle the G35 as I started to get sideways from wheel spin in second gear.

How long have you had it? many miles? Before you give up take a good long look at the car and think about itm chances are all it needs is fuel filter (fuel starvation) and tune up and tune. If you want easy then yea sell the car and get an off the shelf POS that looks like and sounds like every other thing out there. If you want to be unique keep it and work one it. That is if you wanna get dirty and not have the parents buy you what every you want.

Not that I know of, but flow numbers and compresion can vary with differnant prodution runs and updates. Thats the joy of mass production. Hence why there are so called "factory freaks" that produce more power then average. Luck of the draw.

Your going to sell something with a C5 corvette engine in it- so you can get something else?

Before you go and get dumb and sell your car, so you can build up "something else".. Why don't you take it to the track and see what your ET and your mph are.

Then let someone you trust- that drives better than you, drive it and see what they can do ( Usually a father, or unlce, someone with more experience for RWD V8 power)---

Why on God's green earth would you sell a Firehawk, to get something else to "race"


If it has a major mechanical issue-- I can understand wanting to get rid of it, but then again you better disclose that to the buyer-- Karma is a biotch.
If you disclose it as a problem you are going to lose a lot of money there, you are better off- fixing it (if there even is a problem) and hooking it up.

People put LS1s into the 10s all the time and still make it street driveable.

Look man, I sold my Trans Am to cover tuition, if it is really bothering you that much over the payment then you need to sell it. I was paying 380 a month on mine for 3 years. I absolutely want to shoot myself for getting rid of it, but on the other hand I have some savings now, and I do not have that payment over my head anymore. If you can make the payments and stay in school then do so, if not, sell it and let someone else drive it. Then when you graduate and whatever else get another one.

if your car is a 2001, then those are not the original heads for that car. the 806 perimeter bolts heads are from 97-98 only. someone has changed them.

yeah i know its gay...lol...i was actually thinking about picking up a set of stock heads up for like 150 bucks...would it even be worth my time to put them on the car? maybe I could buy some and get them CNC ported adn polished? I wonder if that would be a cheaper option than buying some heads.....?

is there any obvious thing I can look at that will help me tell if its even my original engine or not? it has the LS6 intake on it..which is cool

The 335i With a Tune is very likely to beat you.

My SS is 324rwhp and 333tq... my Dad drives a 07 335i which is TWIN turbo, not single... and From a roll, I had him by a car length... from a Dig, he had me by half a car length... Both of us know how to drive seeing as how he taught me...

Dont beat yourself up... The Cobalt probably had a sneaky pete, and losing the Bimmer is not that crazy...

You still have an awesome car and drive around 3300 pounds of American Tradition... Dont hate it...

77777...changed the fuel filter...it doesnt ..drop off at 5200 anymore...but it sure pings like hell and it feels like im running over rumble strips...i know a buddy of mine advanced the timing to 28 degrees if I can remember correctly. ...but after it gets up around 5200 it just starts to ping real bad...any info on what this could be?

ok so I got XXX Motorsports to reflash it to stock for me..great..no knock..but now if I drop it in neutral and rev is...it only revs to 2200 and dies....does the same thing when im shifting sometimes..I will shift..the car will die down..and then pick back up and jerk the hell out of me...i don't fucking know...im tired of spending all of the money to fix the problems with it

good idea. If someone went through the trouble to put a set of 806 heads on the car and kept the better 241 heads, then they probably put on a LS1 'vette intake and tuned out the egr code. Not to scare you but you might have an entire engine from a '97-'98 car with even more than the 77k!!

your car seems as if it has had foul play. my stock hawk beats stock c5 vettes. so be patient and get to the bottom of your problem. i had a simple vaccume hose with a tiny hole in it on a 02 ta i used to have which gave me loss of power so be patient and start getting numbers off everything and do some research to make sure you have what your supposed to have.

+1 ... a simple fix could change your car completely. I had an issue with my MAF about 2 years ago that drove me nuts and took months to figure out. Car felt like a dog and it pissed me off. Once I figured it out the car ran like new and felt 10x faster!! Don't give up on your hawk!

something like that happened to me... a bunch of little things... Maf, O2... Plugs and wires... and a few months later... It's runnin better then ever...

sounds like something to do with your clutch switch i dont know why but thats where i would look next. do you still have to depress the clutch to start? is the rpm change you speak of in the same place as the safety switch?

yeah i still depress the clutch to start the car...only when then clutch is in this problem occurs...now if I let out of the clutch super fast the car wont screw up...clutch switch maybe? how can I test this?

thats weird though..because it still has the LS6 intake..and no EGR, and I dont see any butt splices or solderd lines or anything as to where one would have been and deleted:duno:

btw..got the car tuned back to stock, changed the fuel filter..huge difference compared to my last "home street tune" and old fuel filter..car was straining...bad

I figured out my clutch problem...its the cruise safety switch...i just took it off of the bracket on the clutch pedal and taped that bitch closed...no more problems lol
