I was wondering if I install a new converter and my tranny already slips from 3rd to 4th would this cause my trans. to go out faster....and if it does when the trans. does go out will it ruin the new converter also? I made the mistake of putting a cam in a while back with no converter and its driving me insane...it fights me all the time...what should I do im trying to keep it on a budget if possible? all help is appreciated.

You need to get the tranny fixed. Most likely the tranny will take out the convertor and the tranny is only going to get worse. Its pointless to install the convertor until the tranny is healthy.

Plus you will have to pull the trans to put the stall in might as well kill 2 birds with one stone.

true dat. this is the boat im in currently. i thought my trans was in good condition, no slipping, no nothing. i couldnt be any more wrong, when the shop opened it up, it had some damage done to it. so im getting a rebuild right now, with shift kit and then puttin the new converter on. he told me if i would have gone down the track one time, my trans woulda went, taking my new converter with it.
do it right the first time and youll end up spending less in the long run.

Don't waste your money putting the converter in a crap tranny. Get the tranny rebuilt and then put a new converter in there.

You will be relieved in the long run with a rebuilt tranny & shift kit.
