Got my tranny rebuilt a couple of months ago (automatic). Because third and fourth gear seized up. So they put in an upgraded clutch pac, shift kit, etc. etc. etc......now when I am at wide open throttle shifting from third and fourth, it bounces off the rev limiter and won't shift unless i get out of it and back in the throttle again. Is this a trans build issue, and should i take it back to them? Or is this a computer shifting problem. Someone please help!!! Before I take it to them to look at it again.

I'd try programing the shifts down first. Do you have a programmer ?

Why would the rebuild of the trans affect the computers shift points. I took it back to the guy that did it today and he insist i need to get the computer re-tuned. I also took it to the pontiac service department and they said the same thing. But I am still not 100% sure that this is the problem or am i just being too worried about it?:dunno:

What exactly did you re program it to? Stock shift points? or did you raise the rev limiter, or lower it? And what handheld did you use to accomplish this?

If you pick up a cheaper hand held unit, you can program each shift point up or down. You want your 3-4 lower. Plus you can tweak the others to your satisfaction !
And a lot of other cool stuff !!! I used the hypertech for a while, and noticed that you had to leave it in overdrive or 4'th for the shift points to work with out hitting the rev limit...

I use the HP Tuners software now and love it !!! Takes some catching on, but it's great ! Cost around 500.00 though, and you supply the laptop !
