Cobra?? Not impressed.

Today I was driving home when a guy probably about 25 or so pulls up next to me in a cobra.. I say whats up to him, and he just ignores me (his girl smiled and waved :naughty:) So we pass the construction that was on the road, and I'm ahead of him as the road goes into a 3 lane.. I move into the far lane, and see him flying up behind me, so I downshift to second and hit it when he's about dead even to me..

Flew by him like he was standing still, put it in third, realized how far back he was, then just coasted to the upcoming light.

Here's the funny part...

We meet at the light, and he goes "show me something fast and I'll race you."

So I laughed and shook my head, smiled at his girl and took off. What an idiot.. my opinions/respect for the mustang guys in my area is going downhill.

On a lighter note, as I was about to turn onto my street, I see a friend I just met a few days ago at a light in his 2001 SS, so I turn around and pull up next to him and we start talking... (of course I told him about the dumbass in the ford :Owned:)

So we drove down the road a bit, through the intersection, I downshifted to 3rd at about 55mph, honked 3 times, and went. He pulled on me by about a car and a half. We turn around, and go from a dead stop, and I took him by about 2 cars.. Last time we went from about 35mph, put it in second and took off.. he beat me again by about a car..

His mods = SLP lid, ported TB, removed cats, drag radials, and 4.10's

I thought he would beat me from the stop, because of his tires, but I managed to take him.. I have the same 4.10's sitting on my floor waiting to be put in.. That should be fun :woo:

I think I did pretty good against him, I also had 2 people in the car with me, he was alone. It was my first loss but was also the best race I've ever had since I got the car a couple months ago.. It was fun because I FINALLY had a challenge..

I'm sick and tired of GT's, Cobras, and ricers :blowme:

fox body 5.0s are so shitty its rediclous i will say with heads they do have a lil portential but ive seen my buddy beat 5.0s in his 94-95 i dunno 3.4 firebird its quite a sight to see

99-04 Mustangs (including Cobras) are known in Ford circles as "New Edge" Mustangs. They are essentially an update to the 94-98 SN95 Mustangs.

Stock for stock, an 99/01 Mustang is not a real good match for an LS1, though they aren't that far behind (03/04 Mach 1 is a better opponent). However, when the mods begin, anything can happen (http://www.corral.net/images/blkcld/cosby1195.mpg). Friendly advice...might want to keep that in mind. :)

im not sure what a stock 3.4 traps but I just looked up the 0-60 and 1/4 for a 1993 Chevy Camaro v-6 which is the 3.4 and it said 0-60 9.0sec and 16.6 in the 1/4

94-96mph my a**. I've heard of a few to do it (though never seen it!), but "generally" speaking, no way. Most 5-0 5-speeds will trap in the low 90's, and i've seen many stock AOD five-liters trap around 88-89.

to tell you the truth, ive never seen it either. I had a 5.0 with minor boltons and it trapped 98-99. but then again, i've never seen a stock LS1 go over 106mph in the 1/4 either but im sure it's happened.

106 is about the norm. The highest i've witnessed was a guy go 108 in a 2002 WS6 (M6, of course) on a 13.1 e.t. bone-stock.

It's a combination of many years. Originally a 75, but has a 88 cab that caries the title. Well it's technically has about 6 titles, but 2 usable ones I think.

I won't even try to explain it all, but here's a few 75 frame (where it started), 88 cab, custom front, 90 box, 73 motor, 80 front axel and transfercase, 78 transmission, 81 rear, and several others mixed in for other parts. It's a 1 ton reg cab short box step side with a big block. Only if they made them that way from the factory....

+1... but if your close to stock.. which it sounds like it.. and he was trying to do a flyby???? im not seeing that add up.. i raced a 99 cobra.. from 55-100 and had him by about 3/4 a car and then from 35-100 and had him by about 1 1 1/2 cars.. i just dont see a stock ls1 not allowing a flyby in a 99 model cobra??? no offense

+1.. 5.0 suck ass.. i dont know about a 3.4.. but i raced an AT 5.0 when i had my 99 3.8 and he only got me by about a car length.. i doubt its trapping 95.. more like high 80s??? with mods idk.. but stock.. please..

Yep, I'm not TOO far off from stock.. just a few goodies.. And yeah he beat me pretty good.. I'm thinking it's because the 4.10's he had, also I did have 2 extra people in the car, so that might have made the difference right there..

Either way I have the 4.10's waiting to be put in sometime soon.. hopefully this weekend so I'll be ahead of him when that's done :yup:

i can see that. they have the same power and the s2000 isn't as heavy as the stang. s2000's are pretty neat when realize that they put out 260hp in 2005. that's pretty good for a little 4banger

Mine was an 2002 with 240 HP, but a supposed 9000 rpm redline instead of the 8600. The rev limiter didn't kick in until about 9300. The power doesn't hit until about 38mph or so in first gear.

The lack of torque was one of the reasons why I got rid of it, not to mention the lack of the V8 rumble, and how low the roof was. It was fine for the first couple of months though. Dump the clutch at about 6K to roast the tires! :lol:
