I know that TA's and Camaro's are capable of achieving great cornering capabilities, as long as you throw some money into it. I was just wondering if anyone has heard or ever tried putting a rear suspension setup, maybe from a c4 or c5 vette, on their 4th gen TA or Camaro?

What problems would that be?

you can do it but it all comes down to can you pay for it. i dont think that the abs is diffrent. if you wanted to do it cheap you could slice and dice your rear end and put some universal joints in and it would be done. but then the suspinsion would have to be redone for it to work right

My buddy has a 04 Cobra it has shims or something aroung the axles near the housing and they went bad and fell out. Too many u-joints to have to worry about. Gears cost way too much money for them. Not safe for drag racing when you run under 10's. Just all around too much money and problems.

If it was a good idea then it would already have been put into production and be available in a kit.

I don't think I have to worry about that, I'm trying to keep this car as driver friendly as possible. But I've seen plenty of vettes achieve this on IRS. I understand by you meaning safe though.

Every good idea has to start somewhere. Just like there is no direct headlight kit, worth the money, for the TA's. I was looking at a corvette forum. . .

. . . seems as if the IRS robs some rear wheel hp from cars when compared to the traditional axle.

It's just with GMMG building all those Dick Harrell cars and Bergers all the others they have done if it would have been better or more handling performance then I think they would have done it. I have been to there shop and the work they do is bad ass so I know that it is something that they could easily do. It would be a good idea, but I would leave it to profesionals with the figuring and rigging.

Don't you find it strange that those cars rears are still 10 bolts though?

All the ones I saw when I was down there was 12 bolts. For 140,000 plus the price of the car 575 rwhp would snap that thing.

Not trying to put down your plan just had to put that out there. No read ups on it. We was going to put IRS on our 66 Mustang, but too much trouble. It was too wide and a lot of other things that was more trouble than it was worth. It has a 9 in under it.

Yeah, it sounds as if it would be a lot of work. But just the idea seem it would be cool. I bet it would give a lot of corvette owners a run for the money. If you ever here anyone attempting this let me know. I would like to know the skidpad numbers.

skid pad numbers on fbodys can match that of the z06 by replacing all of the stock stamped suspension pieces

People have swapped in C4 IRS into thirdgens. It should be possible with some custom fabrication work.

That's pretty nasty. That seems like a major task, definetly not your basic bolt on. It sounds like the guy is really enjoying it though. I'm suprised that there are so many 3rd gen with this mod. I imagine that there is 1 or 2 4th gen's floating around with this, then again maybe not. Thanks again for the links, I need to learn how to do some welding now.
