How much of a difference will I see & feel with 3.73 compaired to stock?

You go from 2.73 to 3.73 you'll see a big difference.

FYI: If you're stock then steel driveshaft = 2.73's; aluminum = 3.23's. Or look at the door sticker option list: GU2 = 2.73's & GU4 = 3.23's.

If you have 2.73's you'll need a 3 series posi.

With the 6speed, I would go with 4.10's at least. I made the mistake of going from 3.42's to 3.73's and felt a little more pull, but not much.

This really true!?. . i've been wondering what gears my ta had because it doesn't have the sticker anymore. and hadn't got around to taken the cover off yet.

I think you will notice a difference between 3.73's and stock. IMO, 3.73's or close to is about the perfect running gear for a dd or summer A4 fbody. 4.10's are bad ass though.

The only code I see on the door says GU5 is this correct? I can't find any other code on the door that says GU4 or GU2.

yea its GU5 is the code for the 3.23's GU6 is the code for the 3.42's in the 6 speed cars.

I didn't know that the 3.23 came with an aluminum drive shaft!!! What does this do as far as performance goes?

I just look at my door tag, Gu5. So I have 3.23. How big of difference would be going from 3.23 to 3.73 or even 4.10s. Would it be to harsh to dd.

When upgrading your gears, 4:10 is more common for manuals and 3.73 is more common for automatics. especially if it is your daily driver!

I have them waiting in my closet to be installed. I have heard that the difference is like night and day. I will find out once I receive my tax return back! And remember you will have to get your spedo recalibrated as well to compensate!!!

2 big reasons most autos go 3.73's is either they are scared they will suffer gas mileage wise, which with just that is minimal at best and almost no noticable difference from a 3.73 and that in the 1/4 with stock rev limiters you might have to shift into OD crossing the traps. I have 4.11's and haven't noticed a huge decrease in gas mileage over the stock 2.73's. And i did mostly highway. went from like 10$ a day to like 13$ for the same drive and given that is spread out on a 100 mile trip that is still better than 20 mpg and that is with my cam (MS3)and stall (3600). Huge difference with gears alone, much more fun. I say get the 4.10's even if you're an auto. That's a 6 speeds biggest advantage I think anyway is the gearing.

I ran 4.10's on a LT1 Caprice, and would do it again in a second! With the overdrive transmission, not too bad on the street as long as you aren't cruising for hours at 90 MPH- the feeling leaving every light and stop sign is just mind-bending! Wheelspin whenever you want, just mash the gas.

4.10's with GM rears 4.11's with Ford rears.
