Finally got around to installing my Volant air intake and my 78mm ported and polished throttle body. I was going to wait until I got my ls6 intake but oh well. Feels a little stronger, engine sounds deeper under acceleration from inside the car. Throttle response feels better as well. Overall, I'm happy and it was worth the $$$. I know I need to clean the engine bay and all of the grease off of it and I definitely need to clean/replace those filters, kinda sloppy right now but I couldn't wait heres a pic: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d115/Transcoupled/HPIM1502.jpg

I bought this one used but I got a good deal. I just need to replace those filters, they look kinda crappy right now. Now I'm waiting to get my gears (3.73) and exhaust (magnaflow) installed!

Nothing wrong with used, got mine that way too. I'll be damned if I pay $275 one new. Got mine from another member for $100

Sweet! You got an even better deal than I did. We need to start a volant cai pics post....lol I think since I dont have a ws6 hood,I might cut out a piece of the bottom of the intake to bring some more air up to it.

I debaffled and my Ram Air hood seals up nicely to the Volant, each nostril feeds directly into a filter:)

Thats cool. Man you couldnt ask for a better seal! I ran out of daylight today so I will probably tool around with it tomorrow. Those discolored filters are really getting annoying everytime I see them.:cry:http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d115/Transcoupled/HPIM1503.jpg

Looks good! That smog filter on the right side can be tucked under the driver side headlight if you do no want to see it..

What causes the filters to buckle like that? They look crumpled, the dirt I understand but why the buckling?

To be honest, as far as bang for the buck, I think a lid and filter is more reasonable but if you can find one on ebay for cheaper than the 275-300 dollar price tag go for it. It certainly looks cool, not to mention it blocks most of the hot air from your engine, from getting into the throttle body. If you want to buy it new check out www.southernhotrod.com he carries the intake kit and also has the replacement filters if you find a used one and want to replace the cone filters with new ones. I cleaned the filters this morning. I didn't have the recharger kit so just used hot water and oiled it up with good ol' wd-40.
