I have a 00 SS m6 and it had 3.42s in it stock and I was turning about 1800 rpms at 80 mph. I am getting 4.10s installed as we speak and I am wondering what kind of rpms will I be turning at 80 mph. How much will this help me at the track. I also had a guy tell me I needed to put a urethane tranny mount in it. Let me know.

4.10's + sticky tires to launch at the track= BYE BYE stock 10 bolt! I believe some members actually run out of gear at the top of 4th in the 1/4 and complain they have to shift into 5th to complete the 1/4. Main part is going to be feathering that clutch on the launch, 4.10's make it easy to spin those tires loose, and stickier tires are going to grenade that 10 bolt in no time. Good luck!

Yes exploding the 10 bolt is always a given and makes for nice fireworks and oooohhhs and ahhhhs from the crowd.
It really makes no sense to usher in 4:10's for the 10 bolt as these are launching gears in an inferior rearend that can't even handle stock gears.
It will always be in the back of your mind when this will happen.
Try to imagine your expensive aluminum driveline twisting off the differential and launching your LS1 into the crowd.
This is always an expensive lesson when you think about how you should have went with a moser or strange setup.
Ford big spline 9" locker is always a good swap.

I have 4:11's in a Moser 12 bolt. I turn about 2100rpm at 80mph in 6th. I lost about 2mpg but the performance gain was worth it.

I have GM 4.11 Gears in my 02 SS with a stock rearend. I LOVE my gears. They make riding around town a BLAST! I haven't had the opportunity to run the car on the dragstrip yet, but it's awesome around town.

FYI, I would NEVER put stickies on my stock rearend... LOL

I've heard that if I put sticky's on I might as well start looking for a rearend.

I have 4.10s and a stock rear end on my 98 M6. I am planning on losing this liability soon with 12-bolt, probably Moser. What kind of install times/prices have you guys encountered.

Your probably looking close to $2500 on the rearend. That's about what they cost here at Year One. SO I figure that is going to be within a couple hundred dollars anywhere else. Install time probably a couple hours at the most taking your time with everything there to do it.

so i should leave my 94's alone? how about a good set of drag radials instead of stickies? theres no other cheaper option for a rearend?
