Won't shift out of 1st

My car just recently started this,the car won't shift unless i get off the gas. And if I step on it hard it'll just drop back to first and redline. Does this mean the tranny is done?!?!?

possible tps issue put vehicle on scanner see what type of codes it comes up with

Throttle position sensor

check fluid level-- and condition of fluid & filter
If that doesn't do it--take to a trans. shop & let them check it with a Tech 2
If they can't spot something--more than likely--it's toast---sorry--
