I was wondering what would be the more reliable route to go. I am considering either the 205cc AFR head and cam kit, or a procharger with a 2 or 3 core intercooler running either 5 or 7 pounds of boost. I am concerned about how my bottom end will hold up also just how good of a daily driver each will be. Thanks for any input.

forced induction will be more easy on the block. it will drive like stock till you get on it.

Your LS1 can handle 500 RWHP no problem.....but...be careful of how you deliver that power.....step into it....versus a big blast...the weak link in these engines are the rod bolts.....I have the head/cam/headers etc.....changed out the valves/springs/etc. while we were at it.....putting over 400 to the rear wheels as she sits....next week she is getting a 150 shot of nitrous express....with the window switch and WOT switch I am anticipating no problems at all......other than keeping her going in a straight line that is:)

how much horsepower can an A4 transmission handle on a 99 ls1? I have jba short tube headers, K&N intake and exhaust done to my car, without using NOS how can I get my car to run mid to high 10's and be street legal? If anyone can answer that it would be really great

Is that the 4L60E?
I have the TransGo Shift Kit and a Precesion Industry 3200 Stall im mine....I also have a big ass trannie cooler and spin on filter...I never see heat in excess of 160.....heat is the bad guy for A4's.....running a high quality synthetic trannie fluid will help...like Amsoil/Red Line etc....trannie coolers are cheap and easy to install.....really extend the life of your transmission thats for sure...
I'm putting down ovewr 400 RWHP and am fully street legal....run mid 11's in a 04 GTO....heavy bastard:) And that is pushing the limits.....of streetability that is....for me to get into the 10's would require a turbo...and I just do not want to mess with the car as she sits now......so I am going the nitrous route.....so I guess to answer your question...you would have to go...Long Tube Headers and Performance Exhaust/Heads/Cam and turbo....and some serious drive line suspension work to get it all to the ground.....

Thanks for the help. Sarge how does your car handle on the street? Is it fairly tame, or would you not recommend daily driving it?

Calm as a newborn calf........very tame to drive....can't sneak up on them damn ricers though...they hear the headers and cam going thumpa thumpa thumpa and sorta slink down a little in their seats:) But she drives great and easy....

will a supercharger work better than a turbo or how about a twin turbo?

Here are some basics..... http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question122.htm
Me....I would go Turbo for sure....if nitrous wasn't an option....I like the Squires rear mounted turbo...some really good results coming out of those things......10 second GTO's running around with em right now.....
